Mahakavi Maghuni Upamalu released by union minister Reddy

Who does not know the name of a great poet Magha? He was the champion of Sanskrit vocabulary. Māgha’s fame rests entirely on the Shishupala Vadha. It is believed that Māgha wrote some other works that are now lost. Prof. Upendra Rao did research on the poet’s similes and presented them in his book in an authentic manner. 

The book entitled “Mahakavi Maghuni Upamalu” (Similes of great poet Magha) authored by Prof. Chowdhuri Upendra Rao, the senior Professor at School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi was released by the honourable Central cabinet minister of Culture, Tourism and northeastern states Shri G. Kishan Reddy Ji on the occasion of Sanskrit day-2021. 

The program was organised by the Surabharathi Samiti of Hyderabad on the auspices occasion of Shravana Poornima, Samskrit day 22-8-2021, in the Conference hall of Surabharati Samiti at Osmania University Campus, under the chairmanship of Justice L. Narasimha Reddy, CAT Chairman and Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University, and Former Chief Justice of Hyderabad and Patna High courts.

The Chief Guest of the program was the Honourable Cabinet minister G. Kishan Reddy. The guest of honour was Prof. R. Ravinder, the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Hyderabad. 

Prof. Rao’s book was reviewed by the renowned scholar Prof. Kasireddy Venkata Reddy in Telugu and Prof. Vidyananda Arya, The Head of the department of Sanskrit Osmania University, in Sanskrit. Program was run by Prof. A. Ramulu, former H.O.D. Sanskrit, Osmania University, Hyderabad. 

The program was attended by many scholars and the other dignitaries and lovers of Sanskrit.
