There is an extremely sad news about the renowned veteran Santoor maestro of international fame, octogenarian Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma breathing his last after cardiac arrest in a Mumbai hospital this morning. Suffering from a severe kidney ailment for the last six months Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma was on constant dialysis for the last six months. He breathed his last this morning at 8.00 AM as informed by his secretary Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma. The last rites will be performer his his Pali hill, Bandra House though the time and date has not been announced till yet. A legend Santoor player and a renowned musician Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, recipient of several coveted awards and recognitions including, Padam Shri, Padma Vibhushan n Sandeep Natak academy fellowship by various presidents of India, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma apart from his unaccounted number of shows worldwide also gave music to several Bollywood movies with eminent flute player Hari Prasad Chaurasia. Born in 1998 in Jammu, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma breathed his last at the age of 84. Popular by the name of Shiv Hari in Mumbai Film industry, legendary singer Pt. Sharma gave music to several superhit songs with Hari Prasad Chourasia like ” MERE HAATHON MEIN SAU SAU CHUDIYAN”, of box office hit, film Chandni etc. On 15 th May he was to participate in a concert too. Meanwhile, several dignitaries including president, prime minister and union ministers etc today expressed their deepest condolences and heartfelt tributes on the sad demise of the legendary musician Pant Shiv Kumar Sharma. The president of India Ram Nath Kovind tweeted : Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma’s recitals would leave connoisseurs of India classical music spellbound. He popularised Santoor, the traditional musical instrument from Jammu and Kashmir. Sad to learn that his Santoor is now silenced.
