The polling was held on Friday for the JNUSU elections which are considered to be high profile with issue of national and international significance discussed in these elections. Initially the ABVP candidates were leading but as the counting progressed the ABVP candidates lost on all seats. The voting turnout had been 73% the highest in the last 12 years . There were 19 candidates for the four posts and 42 candidates for the school counsellors. The newly elected president Dhananjay hails from Bihar and is from Dalit community. The NSUI candidates Junaid Raja and Farheen Zaidee for the post of President and General secretary posts have been far behind getting merely 283 and 436 votes respectively. When national elections have already been declared and the communist parties are almost nonexistent except Kerala , the victory of three candidates out of four and extending support to the BAPSA general secretary candidate having won in JNUSU elections, defeating the ABVP candidates this is indeed a big victory Day political analysts.
