Congress wins both the seats in Uttarakhand by elections from Badrinath and Mangalore defeating BJP candidates. A good sign of Congress gaining momentum in Ukhand politics

It seems that the main opposition party of Uttarakhand, Congress is all set to stage a re- come back in Uttarakhand though the state assembly elections are still far, slated to be held in 2027.

However, usually the trend indicates so, as happened at the centre where though BJP is the ruling party for the third consecutive term but the saffron party under Modi charisma couldn’t achieve the singular majority thus compelled to run the central government on the crutches of the Telugu Desam Party and Janata Dal ( United), likely to destabilise on the whims and fancies of these over ambitious parties n their leaders, unprectably.

In Uttarakhand the ruling party BJP got a huge rebuff when it lost the by-elections from Badrinath and Mangalore Assembly constituencies at the hands of the Congress party.

According to the latest results, the official Congress candidate Lakhpat Singh Butola has won the by-election from Badrinath assembly constituency by a margin of 5000 votes defeating his nearest rival and sitting BJP MLA Rajendra Singh Bhandari who had resigned from Congress joining BJP, earlier in Congress for several years.

From Mangalore constituency the Congress party candidate Kazi Nizammuddin defeated the BJP candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana by more than 400 votes. The defeated BJP candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana was from Haryana, an outsider brought to Mangalore as its candidate termed as an outsider by the electorates and rejected outrightly.

This victory of Congress party candidate from both the assembly constituencies in Uttarakhand defeated ruling BJP candidates is being seen as a last nail in the coffin of the BJP in the state which has won in the state assembly elections in 2022 defeating Congress for the second term in a sequel, breaking the two decades old myth that in Uttarakhand the Congress n BJP rule alternatively after every five years.

The Badrinath assembly electorates have by defeating a popular leader and sitting MLA of several terms have given a befitting reply to Rajendra Bhandari , now BJP candidate from Badrinath for defecting to the saffron party proving to be an opportunistic leader due to his wife being involved in an alleged corruption case etc.

The shameful defeat of the sitting MLA Rajendra Singh Bhandari has while brought down the reputation of the ruling BJP down in Uttarakhand, his political career which was shining while in Congress has also been degraded tremendously with future political career looking extremely bleak.

Similarly by defeating Kartar Singh Bhadana an outsider from Mangalore the electorates have proved beyond doubt that the days of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party are coming near and is likely to collapse politically as the saturation point of its charisma and popularity has literally crossed its all limits, especially in Uttarakhand.

Rajendra Bhandari, Congress MLA who defected to BJP from Badrinath lost to Congress in the by election by five thousand votes. The electorates taught him a befitting lesson for defecting to BJP. Finally the ruling political dispensation of the state is also realising the pitfalls of double engine government say Ashish of LOSA. The Congress party has every reason to celebrate these two triumphs after a long time especially after losing all the 5 parliamentary Lok Sabha seats at the hands of BJP for the third term. The leader of opposition in Uttarakhand assembly and former cabinet minister Ukhand Yashpal Arya while expressing his jubilation of these two victories after a long interval wrote on X :

“Jai Shri Badrivishal ji Maharaj” please keep blessing me”. In the by-elections held in Uttarakhand, on the big victory of Congress in both Badrinath and Mangalore assembly constituencies, MLA Haldwani “Respected Mr. Sumit Hridayesh”, former MLA Nainital “Respected Mr. Sanjeev Arya”, senior leader “Respected Mr. Prakash Joshi” and senior Congress members celebrated the victory by playing with colours and bursting crackers.

The Uttarakhand Congress president has congratulated Butola on the occassion of his victory in Congress ticket from Badrinath writing on X :

Hearty congratulations to all the senior leaders, office bearers and workers including Congress candidate Bhai Lakhpat Butola ji on the unprecedented victory of Badrinath in the assembly by-election of Uttarakhand. Congress party has won this election due to the unity of all of you. This victory is dedicated to the people of Uttarakhand and the Congress workers and it is the blessing of Lord Badrivishal to the Congress party. BJP’s huge defeat first in Ayodhya and now in Badrinath has given a serious message that elections cannot be won again and again by breaking the opposition party and luring their candidates with money and position, by spreading communalism and by adopting divisive policies. The pot of clay cannot be put on the stove again and again during elections. The people of Uttarakhand are suffering from inflation, unemployment, corruption and women harassment and BJP only wants to garner votes in the name of lies, rhetoric and religion, which has been completely rejected by the people. The Congressmen of Uttarakhand have made the message of Rahul Gandhi meaningful that the Congress has opened two new shops of love in the market of hatred in Uttarakhand.

The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat to express his jubilation in these two triumphs from Mangalore and Badrinath wrote on his social media handle X : The victory of Shri Badrinath and Mangalore Assembly is the victory of democracy, the victory of the people of Mangalore and Shri Badrinath, many congratulations to all of you and many thanks to Shri Badrinath and the respected people of Mangalore. In Dehradun, Uttarakhand Congress office too their was a celebration on account of the party’s rejuvenated triumph of its candidates from Badrinath and Mangalore assembly constituency. The Congress activists lifted the president Karan Mahara on their shoulders and garlanded him raising the victory slogans.
