Kanhaiya Kumar of CPI and Jignesh Mewani may join Congress on 28 th September
After the exercise of several days two prominent youth leaders of opposition parties are likely to join Congress. Both these youth leaders originally from Bihar and Gujarat have met former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and formally made up their minds to join the oldest party on 28 th September in New Delhi.
The former president of Jawahar Lal Nehru University Students Union and a controversial student n youth leader now in Communist Party of India Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat’s popular youth Jignesh Mewani are likely to join the Congress party says the sources as per the tweet of ANI news agency.
Kindly recall that five states of the country are going to polls early next year and Congress party seems to be in need of firebrand youth leaders with good oratorical skills and both Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mewani are quite popular in their respective states.
It is believed that while Jignesh Mewani had been in touch with former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi since long looking for an opportune moment to join Congress despite Hardhik Patel joining Congress and Alpesh Thakur going in BJP quite before having been very active in 2017 elections, JNUSU firebrand leader who was jailed for allegedly being a part of a group raising objectionable slogans earlier has now formally taken a decision to join Congress after meeting Rahul Gandhi.
Moreover, there was tiff between senior leaders n Kanhaiya Kumar in Communist party of India compelling him to join Congress say sources.
Kanhaiya Kumar has in 2019 contested the lok Sabha elections from Begusarai Bihar, from where he lost against union minister Giriraj Singh despite his rallies gathering massive crowds and wide media coverage. Eminent Bollywood progressive writers like Javed and many professors and academic personalities had campaigned during his election coming from Mumbai and Delhi on their own expenses.
Being a Bhumihar himself he lost from Begusarai constituency. Congress party thinks that extremely popular amongst youth and a good oratorical leader belonging to Bhumihar class, Kanhaiya Kumar with his progressive left background can be an asset for Congress party in Bihar where it is lacking a credible leader with youthful academic grass roots background. His entry in Congress would immensely add to the party’s strength n credibility in Bihar.
As far as Jignesh Mewani of Gujarat is concerned, he being a dalit leader and quite popular among youths and backward classes his entry in Congress will give them another leader with immense oratorical skills in Gujrat along with extremely popular youth leader Hardhik Patel. He will be an asset to atleast 13 reserved seats of Gujarat. He is currently an elected lawmaker from Gujarat’s Vadgam constituency having a background of a lawyer and journalist.
