# JUSTICE FOR NIRBHAYA OF NAJAFGARH KIRAN NEGI# Light a lamp (Diya) in your balcony on 20 November at 9.00 PM in solidarity to the noble cause !

A cumulative decision was taken in a meeting in Garhwal Bhawan that in order to express our solidarity to our collective struggle to seek # justice for our innocent and brave daughter and sister Nirbhaya of Najafgarh # a DIYA ( lamp) would be lit in every house of the country in support of the noble cause not only in Uttarakhand and the national capital but in all the states of the country from 9.00 PM onwards in the balconies or roofs of every house.

Another unanimous decision has been arrived at, in the meeting that two days before the review petition, in case it is admitted – a rally and candle March will be organised at Jantar Mantar to protest against the unacceptable judgement of the apex court despite the very fact that “Bharat Ki Beti” Nirbhaya of Najafgarh primarily hailing from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, the only earning member if her poor family, was brutally killed on 9 th February, 2012 after an obnoxious gang rape by three culprits with 21 severe injuries inflicted on her body allegedly sprinkling acid in her eyes and ears punctured by screw driver including shamefully broken bottle inserted in her private parts as per the news reports.

Never in the history of India such obnoxious act has been committed and justice not only delayed but denied as well despite this being the rarest of the rare category case, after the relentless struggle of ten long years and the human beasts being accorded capital punishment by lower Dwarka sessions Court and thereafter upheld by Delhi High Court.

The significant meeting addressed by several participants including senior advocate and, DHC Bar Association secretary Sandeep Sharma, also the chief of the legal committee who’ve been requested to file the criminal review petition in the apex Court within 30 days, Sandeep Sharma revealed that he and his capable team of advocates are already on the job and have procured all the necessary records assuring about filing the review petition next week most probably which is, almost complete.

A need was also felt to meet the Union home minister and the Delhi Police commissioner and acquaint them about the sensitivity of the case and an urgent need for the police authorities too to file the review petition from their side in this case.

This particular point was raised by My. J. S. Rawat senior advocate assisting in the legal process.

Majority of the speakers emphasised that though organising candle marches, peaceful protests and other form of mobilisation campaign are utmostly essential to generate psychological pressure on the system for a very just cause, but filing of the review petition is inevitable and only remedy to seek justice for late KIRAN Negi.

Therefore the entire onus of the case lies on the shoulders of senior advocate n DHC bar association’s secretary Sandeep Sharma and his efficient team of advocates said majority of the speakers.

The main point that was brought to the notice of the chair and the participants was that the issue should not be politicised at any cost and the case should be taken at social level by all sections of the society across political spectrum nationally not bringing political affiliations n loyalties into picture.

A suggestion was unanimously accepted that the chief minister of Uttarakhand should be contacted and requested to extend maximum financial support to the review petition filing team as the case will take lot of time and money required ultimately.

A need was, also felt that an unemployed brother of late Nirbhaya of Najafgarh should be given government job in Uttarakhand.

Apart from a legal committee that has already been formed, another committee called Social Welfare Committee under the leadership of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha has also been constituted which will assist the legal committee and take up cases related to women distress in future.

Senior advocate Sandeep Sharma, on the advise of T. S. Bhandari n other participants assured that he will take the services of senior criminal lawyers including Mr. Vikas chief of the Supreme Court Bar Association who will appear in the apex court free of cost.

Mr Sharma has already and in today’s meeting as well, made it absolutely clear that he and his entire team is fighting this case free of cost. Kudos to him.
