Just after few days of the sad demise of the tallest leader Dr. Hridayesh, Pradeep Tamta, MP demands Harish Rawat to be declared as future CM of Ukhand

Politics is the game of opportunism and there is no space for passion or compassion rather priority for fulfilling the ambitions. The veteran octogenarian Congress leader, 8 times MLC n Lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly, cabinet minister in all Congress governments and leader of the opposition in assembly Dr. Indira Hridayesh has just expired three days ago and the infighting within the Congress has raised its head high with the Harish Rawat protege and Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta demanding his guru ( Rawat) to be declared as the prospective chief minister of Uttarakhand where election’s are due in the initial months of 2022.

Sounds interesting as the tallest leader of Congress, betenoire of Harish Rawat, Dr. Indira Hridayesh has died just three days ago and his faction has started demanding his name to be declared as the next chief minister of Uttarakhand.

This sudden demand by a responsible leader n RS MP Pradeep Tamta has raised the eyebrows of Rawat’s opponents within the Uttarakhand Congress led by the present party chief Pritam Singh and the central party observer Devendra Yadav who had alongwith Dr. Indira Hridayesh had out rightly opposed Harish Rawat’s proposal tooth and nail saying that there had never been a tradition in Congress and Uttarakhand of declaring the name of the prospective CM n as such it was rejected.

Devendra Yadav, the central party in-charge of Uttarakhand had earlier as well as few days ago in Delhi held the meeting with all the senior leaders of Congress that included Harish Rawat, Pritam Singh, Congress chief n Dr. Indira Hridayesh including other leaders and had directed all of them to work unitedly to ensure party’s victory in the 2022, assembly elections with no inkling of declaring any future CM in the near future.

Moreover, he had said that in Congress there had always been a tradition of electing the leader of CLP after attaining majority rather than contesting assembly elections keeping the face of prospective CM in the forefront. This was the massive setback to senior Congress leader Harish Rawat.

While demanding the declaration of Harish Rawat’s name as the party’s prospective CM , Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta catagorically said that since Rawat is the tallest leader of Uttarakhand extremely popular in the masses , he is the best and apt choice for the future CM of the state. He further added that since Dr. Indira Hridayesh had expired there is no leader of the stature of Rawat in Congress to lead the party carrying all the factions forward and ensuring party’s massive victory.

It may be recalled that the present party chief Pritam Singh, outgoing party president Kishore Upadhyay and late Dr. Indira Hridayesh had been always opposed to Harish Rawat and had strongly expressed their dissent over his proposal to declare the prospective CM in advance, fearing that Harish Rawat may manipulate to get himself declared as the future CM candidate.

His opponents are of the opinion that when he ( Rawat) had been already appointed the CWC member, the highest decision making body of Congress, the national general secretary and the in-charge of Assam( earlier) n now Punjab he should involve himself in national politics n stop meddling in Uttarakhand affairs especially when he had already been made the state CM in 2016. Moreover, he had lost from two constituencies as CM last time, bringing bad name to the party a well they added. Therefore he doesn’t posses any locus standi to be projected as the future CM of the state.

Not only this but once a Congress heavy weight Satpal Maharaj and 9 MLAs led by Vijay Bahuguna former CM had left Congress annoyed with his actions n joined BJP creating a huge jolt for Congress in Uttarakhand.

The former Uttarakhand chief Kishore Upadhyay is also annoyed with Harish Rawat against whom he had charges of the former betraying him and dislodging his chances to become the Rajya Sabha MP when Rawat ( then CM) had played a pivotal role in making Pradeep Tamta win instead of assuring him earlier.

The ongoing infighting within Congress party n over ambition of the former CM to again nab the top post in Uttarakhand may adversely affect the party’s winning chances in 2022 assembly elections say political analysts.

Meanwhile the Bhartiya Janata Party is also likely to organise a high level meeting in the state from 27 to 29 June with a target to gain 60 plus seats in the ensuing elections of the state.
