Judicial officer Ashish Naithani appointed as Judge of Uttarakhand high Court

The union government has cleared the appointment of the senior judicial officer Ashish Naithani as the Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. In a notification issued by the Ministry of Law Justice and Company Affairs , Department of justice joint secretary Jagannath Srivastava it is mentioned that in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of the Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Ashish Naithani to be a judge of High Court of Uttarakhand with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office. The union minister of Law Arjun Meghwal in his message on X wrote : In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint the following as Judges annexing their list convey his best wishes as below:- Ajay Digpaul, Advocate , Harsh Vaidyanathan Shankar appointed as Judges of High Court and Ashish Naithani appointed as the Judge of Uttarakhand High Court.

According to Live Law the Uttarakhand High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 11 judges, is currently functioning with 6 judges, leaving 5 vacancies.

It may be recalled that the Apex court’s collegium on 22 nd December , last month had approved the appointments of advocates and judicial officers as judges to the high courts of Uttarakhand, Allahabad, Rajasthan and Mumbai.
