Journey to Badrinath Dham and Hemkunth Sahib curtailed from 12 August to 14 August due to IMD warning
Safety first: Devotees are being returned from Gauchar barrier

IN view of the excessive rains and inclement weather conditions in Garhwal, Uttarakhand especially in Chamoli district the and warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, the Uttarakhand government has prohibited the journeys to and fro to Badrinath Dham and Hemkunt Sahib on Joshimath route, the main gateway to both these spiritual destinations. This restriction on the Badrinath, Hemkunth Sahib route have been imposed from 12 th August to 14 th August temporarily and will be restored forthwith.
During this period, devotees entering
Chamoli district are being stopped at Gauchar barrier by Chamoli Police and informed about the severe weather conditions and the danger of a possible landslide on the route ahead.
The travellers are being explained and are being safely sent back from Gauchar itself so that any kind of accident or loss of life can be avoided.
According to sources, the journey will be resumed when the weather clears and the route is found to be safe. Travelers are requested to wait for the official update of the administration and Chamoli police and do not attempt the journey until then.
