The Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee has expressed its immense disappointment and disenchantment over the negligent and apathetic attitude of the state government and the state administration for not listening to their genuinely and transparent demands despite the sufferers of the holy town registering their protest since the last three months after massive subsidence and cracks in more than thousand houses, adversely affecting thousands of residents.

The Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee after experiencing complete non cooperation from the state government in resolving their genuine demands despite several assurances from the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and top Bureaucrats in the recent past has threatened to resort to direct action after 27 th April by organising CHAKKA JAM and total closure of the markets and entire services in Joshimath which is a most import gateway to historic spiritual and religious destinations of Uttarakhand viz. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri , especially during summer seasons when these portals open and lakhs of devotees n tourists from pan India, level including from around the globe visit here.

In a memorandum sent to the chief minister of Uttarakhand signed by the chief of Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee Comrade Atul Sati, Secretary and spokesman of the Committee Kamal Returi and Krishna Purohit etc via the Sub Divisional Magistrate the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee has catagorically stated that the suffering people of Joshimath have been struggling hard and protesting for the last three months in support of their demands to pay adequate financial compensation to the displace families, built houses, resettle and rehabilitate them but the state government and administration have literally done nothing to set right the situation despite repeated persuasions at various levels including assurances given by the chief minister himself.

Last month a meeting was held with the chief minister in which suggestions were made to form a credible high level coordination committee co opting the representatives of the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee in it.

A suggestion was also made to constitute another coordination committee to cater to the burning issues and problems of the displaced residents and govt agreeing to it in principle but unfortunately the government has shown extreme apathy and negligence not hearing to these pleas despite assurances given by the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami himself.

In order to stop the confrontation with the agitating public the government could still find a reasonable and credible solution to the burning grievances of the sufferers and displaced families of Joshimath says the memorandum.

Warning the state government and the chief minister too the memorandum very unanimously states that if the demands of the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee are not accepted and implemented by 27 April, the agitated and angered sufferers of Joshimath holy town will have no option but to resort to direct action by organising a CHAKKA JAM and closure of markets and other services leading to immense difficulties and hardships to the devotees, pilgrims, tourists and the entire Chardham Yatra, the responsibility of which shall be solely of the administration and state government.
