Jitin joining BJP is like slap on our face says Harish Rawat

The former chief minister of Uttarakhand, member Congress Working Committee, n general secretary of AICC with in-charge of Punjab elections Harish Rawat is deeply hurt after it’s important leader and former union minister during Congress regime left the party terming it as a regional party joining BJP against which he n his later father Jitin Prasad had been waging an ideological warfare, terming it a slap on the face of Congress n it’s leaders. Speaking to ANI senior Congress leader these days busy in a patch up between Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh and fmr eminent cricketer Sidhu Paaji, as he is popularly known, has said: Jitin Prasad joining BJP is like a big slap on our face. It is sad and disheartening. I am surprised that he called Congress a regional party and joined the party against which his family fought tweeted ANI.

Kindly recall that once Rahul Gandhi’s close friend n an active member of his coterie n twice an elected MP from Shahjahanpur till he lost in 2014 against the BJP candidate, Jitin Prasad had joined BJP on Thursday terming Congress without naming it publicly as a regional and individual centric party. He rebelled against the Congress leadership after his relation between Rahul Gandhi became strained as Jyotiraditya Scindia, MP rebelled earlier n joined the saffron party expressing their full faith in PM Modi’s leadership terming the saffron party as a national institutionalised party. If we go by the comments of Harish Rawat terming Jitin Prasad’s rebelling and joining BJP as a slap on his ( Congress n it’s leaders face) then kindly also recall that in 2016 when he was the CM of Uttarakhand annoying 9 MLAs after first annoying Satpal Maharaj due to his alleged dictatorial style all of them had rebelled similarly as Jitin and Madhavrao Scindia, against him n joined BJP demanding dissolution of the house requesting party high command to write to president against various charges of alleged Kareed Farokht of MLAs the sting, which was telecast in various news channels later on.

The case was later on referred to CBI. These 9 MLAs majority of whom are now ministers in the BJP govt of Uttarakhand had rebelled against Rawat’s dictatorial style of functioning including allegedly levelling several corruption charges etc.

Earlier the towering leader of Uttarakhand , two time state minister in Devegowda govt, now cabinet minister in the state government n Congress heavy weight Satpal Maharaj had left Congress n joined BJP during the Congress tenure giving it a huge jolt and paving the way for nine Congress MLA joining the saffron party later on in 2019, in the month of May finally reducing Rawat’s govt to minority and re – election in Uttarakhand in which the then CM Harish Rawat had lost from two legislative constituencies.

  1. Old hats & young turks as and when find suitable opportunity are quitting the party to join leading or other upcoming parties. Doesn’t it reflect some where that the party’s grip is getting loose and management is not performing properly. They say honesty begets honesty. Whatever party it may be but the nation demands honesty and loyality from all; any one lacking it will be lacking mandate as well. Voters are getting wiser now.

    1. Yes Sir, you r absolutely correct, loyalty is the thing of the past now. Politicians have become opportunists and are always in search of green pastures, not fond of struggle during hard times as used to earlier. Ideology, commitment to the cause and struggle has nothing to do with the politics as it has become purely a Dhanda of minting wealth, money n property than a duty for the nation n towards principles n noble cause. Only the affluents, rich n muscle power are ruling the roost and those with ideals n principles including committed ideology are on roads or at their respective homes given up the idea of being in politics.

  2. I hold, ourselves the voters, equally responsible for all this muck. Not only leaders but the voters also have to be honest in their responsibilities, they owe to the nation, and vote for an honest and competent candidate and not for any party as such. If the image of one man is enough to get landslide victory then better go in for Presenting form of democracy. Why play hide & seek then.
Somewhere on the line I strongly feel that the Bible for systems for any nation is its constitution. All systems are drawn from it; there is a dire need of overhauling the entire constitution. People take advantage of loop wholes in it. Let us redesign an uniform constitution & code of law for entire country. No resolutions for consensus to make it uniform. Let us follow the principle of, ‘While in Rome do as the RomNs do.
