THE PR Films production Garhwali movie titled “Jai Maa Surkanda Devi” is being shown at Jaipuria Mall, Indirapuram these days and drawing full house with audience curiously coming from Delhi and NCR in good numbers inorder to pay their obeisance to one of the popular deities of Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and to know about HER mysterious emergence several decades ago.

Primarily a spiritual movie produced on the lines of the decades old Hindi blockbuster move Jai Santoshi Maa which had broken all records of box office, Jai Maa Surkanda is the second movie produced with immense precision after Jai Maa Dhari Devi.

The main purpose of this spiritual centric movie in Garhwali dialect shot near a magnificent location in proximity of the Maa Surkanda Devi temple in Tehri Garhwal seems to be not only to entertain the audience through their outstanding movie with excellent camera work and melodious songs including perfect dialogue deliveries and scenic beauty the producers also want to spread the impressive Impact of the popular deity of Tehri Garhwal highlighting the mysterious appearance of this Goddess deity several decades ago and the deity herself appearing in the dreams of a man who brought an old women on his back, despite being already overloaded , covering tremendous challenging heights to her desired destination.

After the deity in the form of an old woman reaches her desirous destination, she disappears abruptly sending terrible fear in the mind of the person who lifted her and helped her reached her destined spot. The man ( Dhakar) hurriedly reaches his house in the state of panic and narrates the story to his wife fearing the mysteriously disappeared woman as a Ghost or evil spirt.

But in the night the deity appears in the dreams of the man ( Dhaakery) in a Goddess attire and jewels and disclosed that she is not a ghost by Sati Mata the wife of Lord Shiva narrating the entire story leading to her death by burning herself in the fire as Sati. While explaining the story she said that when her husband Lord Shiva knew about her death He took me and roamed in the entire BRAHAMAND” in distress. Meanwhile when Mata Lakshmi saw this she requested Lord Vishnu to do something so that she gets salvation .

To this the Lord Vishnu cut the dead body of Mata Sati in several parts with his magical Chakra , one of which her head fell in Tehri Garhwal . The Goddess Maa Surkanda requests the man ( Dhakery) to kindly go with his colleagues to the spot where her head lies and build a small temple. Later on she also appears in the dream of a saint who had come to that spot years after to build a bigger temple who obeyed the orders of Goddess Surkanda. This place is called Surkut. Gradually the temple was built , brought up nicely and becomes a bigger fascinating temple where today thousands of people from around India and World come to pay their obeisance to Maa Surkanda Devi and get their demands fulfilled. The music of the film with lyrics and script extremely fantastic though the movie despite being interesting keeping the audience glued to their seats for 2.5 hours continuously would have been more entertaining had it inserted in it some masala of comedy and the village becoming more filled with variety of people and different characters to entertain the audience as well diverting the audience for few duration towards comedy oriented entertainment.

The main character in the movie , the grandfather Rakesh Gaur who narrates the entire story of Maa Surkanda to his grandchild living abroad and now in the village for few days with his parents who ( grandson) finally writes a book on Maa Surkanda Devi have acted excellently as he is a highly talented actor. Rajesh Malgudi , the second main character who plays the role of one of the Dhakery of olden times and sees Goddess Surkanda in his dreams to fulfil her wishes etc has done justice to his role by taking everyone to the old times to his village. Riya Sharma’s role as a fortune teller woman and an ardent disciple of Maa Surkanda is also highly appreciable. All marks to the script and lyrics writer Mr. Gusain. The roles played by Dr. Shashi Bhushan and his wife were also justifiable while the role of a saint by producer Rajendra Bhatt was also highly impressive. The actors who acted in this movie are Dr Shashi Bhushan, Rajender bhatt Prem singh , ( Producers) Padam Gusain, Rajesh Malgudi, Sushila Rawat, eminent director, Riya Sharma, Babli Adhikaari, Sanjay chamoli, Savan Gairola and ofcourse a seasoned outstanding actor Rakesh Gaur.
