It is unfortunate that we weren’t allowed to discuss in Parliament on important NEET – UG paper leaks today : RAHUL GANDHI

The newly elected leader of the opposition INDIA bloc Rahul Gandhi has started showing his firebrand power in the Lok Sabha with renewed confidence, grit, determination and outstanding oratorical skill and the ruling political dispensation , the treasury benches seem to have started feeling the incredible opposition heat n impact.

After the president’s address yesterday , vociferous opposition leader Rahul Gandhi left no stone unturned to raise the issue of NEET – UG paper leak holding the ruling party directly responsible for this serious and severe lapse spoiling the career of lakhs of young medical aspirants but his Mike was allegedly made ineffective with Rahul Gandhi requesting the speaker to provide him access to the sound of the mike in order to let him put his significant point of view forth on this pivotal issue, but of no avail. Such attempts of silencing of Rahul’s Mike in Lok Sabha was done earlier as well, in the 17 th Lok Sabha when this outspoken n vociferous leader took the then treasury benches to task on various issues of inflation, Rafale, unemployment n corruption etc. Rahul has acknowledged the outright support of entire NDA including the 100 MPs of Congress compelling the speaker to say that only discussion on President’s address will be allowed n that discussions on other issues, however, pivotal they may be will not be recorded.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned first by an hour and later on for the day when the opposition NDA led by Rahul Gandhi relentlessly raised the important issue of NEET – UG demanding justice to lakhs of young aspirants with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge LOP in Rajya Sabha too raising this issue threadbare and emphatically, accusing the government that this is not the first time that NEET paper leaks happened but during the last decade of BJP rule there had been leaks of papers seventy times.

The Mike of the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge too was stopped as happened in Lok Sabha in the case of Rahul Gandhi with speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Mr.Dhankar categorically denying the charge and saying that no issue except discussions on motion of thanks on president’s address will be allowed n that there won’t be any record of the proceedings other than about thanks giving to Presidential address. In a tweet in India the Congress write on X : After Turning OFF Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi’s mic while raising NEET Scam

Now Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge’s mic also Turned OFF while speaking on NEET Scam.

This is how BJP is destroying the lives of lakhs of students. Imagine their pain, their tears 💔

While expressing his serious disenchantment the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi said the INDIA Opposition bloc wants to have a constructive debate with the Government on the NEET exam and the prevailing paper leak issue.

It is unfortunate that we weren’t allowed to do so in Parliament today. This is a serious concern that is causing anxiety to lakhs of families across India.

We urge the Prime Minister to debate on this issue and give the students the respect they deserve wrote the opposition leader Gandhi on his social media handle X.

It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi has agreed to be the opposition leader after being unanimously elected by NDA after a decade and gets the official status as the cabinet rank as enshrined in the parliamentary rules n regulations.

Reacting to the closure/ disconnection of sound in the mic of the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha when he stood up speaking on the NEET – UG paper leaks , the senior journalist, columnist and two time president of Press Club of India Umakant Lakhera posted his strong resentment on social media FB – writing :

The constitutional position of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha is not an ordinary position where a person holding that position stands up to speak on NEET and other paper leaks and is not allowed to speak. Switching off the mike inside the House is a grave insult to the Constitution, the Opposition and parliamentary democracy.

There should be an investigation on whose instructions the mic was switched off. The speaker has said that he did not switch off the mike, then the matter is even more serious. Suppressing the voice of the opposition will only increase conflict and distrust and will be a loss for the country. The speaker should have given respect to the leader of the opposition and allowed him to speak for 10 minutes and then given a small update on the investigation being conducted by the government, the matter should have been like this. There is no mountain breaking that the President’s address will be discussed first.

In fact, most of the claims in the address are nothing more than false praises of the government and self-bragging. Why couldn’t there be a short discussion of two hours as the Speaker wanted? With such obstinate attitude and stubbornness, it is doubtful whether the Parliament will be able to function peacefully even for a day.
