It is the fear to lose elections which prompted to withdraw three farm laws says Priyanka Gandhi
The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has today said that the sudden withdrawal of the three farm laws is the result of the fear of BJP led government and prime minister in view of the fast approaching elections in several states of the country and nothing else.
Castigating the BJP leaders and prime minister without naming them, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that they could not find time to meet the agitating farmers few kilometres away from Delhi while they were protesting for the last one year and not paying tributes to those who died during the agitation, but now they all of a sudden seek apologies and announce about repealing of the three contentious farm laws, obviously n unambiguously giving an impression that this decision has been taken as elections in five states are round the corner and they are afraid of losing them.
The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi was on Friday addressing the media in Lucknow and also answering their questions in a press conference.
On the question of the agitating farmers not ready to wind up from Ghazipur and other protesting sites at Delhi border despite the PM Narendra Modi’s public assurance of withdrawing the three farm laws Priyanka Gandhi said that it is difficult to believe and trust on the rhetoric and changing attitudes of yours, pointing towards PM Modi, saying that the farmers are right as they want to be doubly sure about repealing of the agricultural laws in Parliament when the session officially passes it.
Accusing the government of enhancing the price of manure, diesal, petrol and essential commodities in the country, Priyanka Gandhi said that the farmers are worst hit by the ongoing sky rocketing inflation and rise in petro products with hundreds of farmers committing suicides day in and day out.
She said that a farmer has died today while standing in a queue to purchase manure. She blamed the BJP government for not taking back the three agricultural laws in time, resulting in the death of more than six hundred farmers and compelling the farmers to relentlessly struggle for a year with a son of the state home minister at the centre, allegedly killing several farmers at Lakhimpur Khiri crushing them under his vehicle, but still enjoying the power as union state home minister.
In a series of tweet Priyanka Gandhi said : The farmers were lathi charged, they were arrested. Now, since elections are near and are fearful of losing them , they have come to the conclusion that this country has been made by farmers, it is of farmers, and farmers are the only caretaker of this country, and no government can run this country crushing farmers.
She added more than 600 farmers were martyred, a relentless struggle of more than 350 days @narendramodiji, your ministers son has crushed farmers under his vehicle and you are least bothered. You party leaders have called farmers as terrorists, traitors, hooligans, and Andolanjeevi tweeted Priyanka Gandhi
Meanwhile, the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat has, also castigated the BJP regime at the centre and asked where were you when the agitating farmers were dying. What sort of announcement is this after the death of 700 farmers during the last one year of the agitation. Can’t you withdraw these three contentious agricultural bills earlier to saves the lives of farmers. Now since, the BJP is afraid of losing the elections in majority of the states likely to go to polls next year, the decision was taken to convince the people to entice votes, said the election campaign committee chairman of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat.
