Ink thrown at Kanhaiya Kumar in Lucknow Congress office. Congress claims it as acid

An activist with the name of Devansh Vajpayee was caught by the several Congress activists at Congress office in Lucknow when he threw ink on the Communist Party of India turned Congress leader formerly president of JNU Kanhaiya Kumar, who had gone there to campaign for Sadaf Zafar, Congress candidate from Lucknow constituency, likely to file his nomination papers today.

The Congress leaders claimed that it was not ink but acid thrown on Kanaiya Kumar who had joined Congress few months ago from Communist Party of India.

The drops of the ink/ Acid fell on some party supporters of Congress party who were with Kanhaiya Kumar at that point of time and have been admitted to hospital.

However, Kanhaiya Kumar is reported to be safe, hale and hearty.

The police is trying to go into the details of the matter to find the antecedents of the ink/ acid thrower who had been identified as Devensh Vajpayee.

After throwing the ink on Kanhaiya Kumar, while he was addressing the Congress workers in support of Lucknow party candidate Sadaf the ink thrower raised slogans of Kanhaiya Kumar Murdabad.

It may be recalled that in Gujrat too a hindu sena activist had thrown ink on Jignesh Mewani, a renowned Gujarat Congress leader earlier.

Kanahiya Kumar, formerly a student leader and president of prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru university students union considered to be a hub of Communists was behind bars for being branded as anti national along with his colleague Khalid for allegedly raising anti India slogans in one of the meetings in JNU the charge strongly denied by Kanaiya Kumar. A controversial leader Kanahiya Kumar had contested the parliamentary election from Bihar in 2019 on CPI ticket but lost. He later on joined Congress after having some differences with the party leaders.
