INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM QUALIFIES QUARTER FINAL, ENTERS SEMIFINAL, HOPES OF ANOTHER MEDAL
The Indian Hockey team’s victory qualifying the quarter final to reach the seminar final is indeed a good news for countrymen.
In the biggest sporting event globally, the Paris Olympics, the outstanding Indian Hockey team has by way of defeating Britain by 4-2 in the thrilling penalty shoot has raised the Indian tricolour high generating tremendous hopes for one more Medal for the nation.
What is interesting to note here is that in the entire game the score of both the highly spirited teams was 1-1 but after the penalty shoot India got the positive outcome qualifying in quarterfinals against Britain entering the semifinals with immense optimism for another medal.
In the shootout Britain lagged behind with India scoring back to back four goals whereas Britain scoring just two.
The entire credit actual goes to the Indian team Goalkeeper playing his last Olympics who have with immense dexterity stopped two goals of British Hockey team despite so much of pressure thus giving Indian team an unambiguous advantage.
Indian Goal keeper Srijesh’s performance was so outstanding that he saved 11 penalty corners enabling India’s competition with Germany and Argentina on 6 th of August.
What was unique about the Indian team was that it has played the entire match with ten players and won the match finally making this triumph more outstanding. This was so because the Indian defender Rohit Das was shown the Red card and was out of the match.
However, despite this, the Indian team was in high spirits and countered the British Hockey team with immense grit and determination finally winning the match.
Both the teams were heavy in each other with the match being drawn with both the teams scoring 1-1 compelling the referees give the decision for penalty shoots in which India hit all the four goals but due to the outstanding performance of India goalkeeper Shrijesh stopping two goals by Britain , the latter could only shoot two goals resulting in India’s jubilant victory qualifying the quarterfinals and entering semifinal to be now held in 6 th August with Germany and Argentina.
Even Indian Hockey team played with 10 players as defender Rohit Das was our of the team. Indian Gole Keeper Shrijesh defended well against the Britain. No doubt, this is great news for India.
