In view of the massive rains in the Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Garhwal Uttarakhand which is primarily the Chardham Yatra route with always heavy traffic on it, the level of the gushing Alaknanda river waters have crossed danger marks reaching near the main Dhari Devi temple washing all the shops at the down stream with the local administration issuing clear cut directions to stop the traffic on Srinagar road.

The SDRF and local police personnel with loudspeakers in their hands have been directing people not to come near the river and stay indoors exercising tremendous precautions.

According to the latest report due to heavy rains in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts, the water level of Alaknanda river has increased significantly in the border of Pauri district.

The ravishing river water reached the Badrinath National Highway at Mini Goa Beach, about a kilometre ahead of Kaliyasoud, submerging the road.

In view of security, the police has stopped traffic on this route. Vehicles going from Srinagar to Rudraprayag are being stopped at a safe place near Farasu, while some vehicles have been stopped at Kaliyasaur police post.

The water level of the Alaknanda river has also risen in the Srinagar area. Water has reached the shops located on the way to the Dhari Devi temple. The temple and shops have been closed in view of safety.

The water police and the local police are continuously making announcements and appealing to the people to be alert and stay in safe places.
