In 14 constituencies Congress has been a clear cut spoiler for AAP. Had it not contested on these seats AAP would have triumphed with a majority of 36 seats

SUNIL NEGI
The Congress party has been immensely instrumental in spoiling the gameplan of AAP in Delhi thus avenging Arvind Kejriwal who has formed AAP is Delhi after being an important part of Anna Andolan started against Congress party’s corruption before 2013 and intruding into its entire vote bank forming the government in Delhi twelve years ago. Though the Congress party hasn’t won on the single seat in Delhi this time but it has been descisively instrumental in defeating the Aam Admi Party candidates in 14 seats sending it to 22 seats than forming a majority with thirty six seats. After the intensive calculation of the post elections counting figures in fourteen assembly constituencies it has become abundantly clear that had Congress party not contested on these seats the votes gained by its candidates would have added in the account of AAP and its candidates would have defeated BJP candidates in 14 constituencies for sure this forming a government in Delhi with thirty six seats. For instance let’s take the case of three seats to start with of those powerful AAP candidates who have lost at the hands of BJP candidates but due to the votes gained by the Congress candidates. In the case of Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency from where the Congress candidates was Sandeep Dikshit and BJP candidate was Pravesh Verma, the latter has secured total 30088 votes. From here Arvind Kejriwal has lost by a margin of 4089 votes. From here the Congress candidates Sandip Dikshit has secured 4568 votes. If the votes of Sandeep Dikshit Congress and Arvind Kejriwal AAP are added together the total votes comes to 30569. This unambiguously means that if the Congress candidate hasn’t contested from here the Congress vote would have remained with AAP candidate and Arvind Kejriwal would have won by few hundred votes totalling more than the votes of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma. Similarly in the constituency of the former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Jangpura the BJP candidate Tarvinder Marwah has won securing total 38859 votes whereas AAP’s Sisodia bagged 38184. The winning margin was merely 675. The Congress candidate Farhad Suri has secured 7350 votes. Now if Congress candidate hasn’t contested from here as AAP’s spoiler this vote would have gone to AAP making Sisodia victorious by more than 6500 votes. Similarly was the case in the constituency of Saurabh Bharadwaj minister from Greater Kailash where Congress candidate has led to his defeat. There are nine other constituencies in Delhi viz Badli, Nangloi Jat, Madipur, Rajendra Nagar, Jangpura, Kasturba Nagar, Mehrauli, Sangam Vihar, Trilokpuri etc where the Congress party has been a clear cut spoiler for AAP and had these candidates wouldn’t have contested then AAP candidates would have won unambiguously for the government in Delhi gaining majority in 36 seats and BJP coming into minority.
