IGP strongly condemns US-ISRAELI MILITARY ATTACK ON IRAN

INDIA GREENS PARTY CONDEMNS US-ISRAELI MILITARY ATTACK ON IRAN
The India Greens Party (iGP) today condemned the military attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran beginning on 28 February 2026 and the widening strikes across Lebanon and the broader West Asian region.
The party feels it very strongly that these actions, including the extrajudicial killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader and young school children, and the bombardment of military and civilian infrastructures, represent a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
No leader of any country has the moral or legal right to order the killing of the leaders of another sovereign nation or to unleash military force that inevitably destroys civilian lives and destabilises entire regions.
Though the Iranian regime’s crackdown against women and democratic dissenters is unacceptable, political change in a nation cannot be attained through violent intervention by foreign imperialist with hidden agenda. The decision about the future of Iran must be left to the people of Iran alone.
The retaliatory strikes that have followed, causing civilian casualties in Israel and damage across parts of the Gulf region, reveal the predictable consequence of militarism: a spiral of violence that punishes ordinary people while leaders escalate confrontation. Civilians must never be the targets. Reports of attacks on civilian spaces, including schools and residential areas, demand independent international investigation and full accountability under international humanitarian law.
Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait have had a negative impact on India too. The livelihood and lives of millions of people especially from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, who live and work in these nations, face uncertainty and could lead to an economic and humanitarian crisis in the above-mentioned states if the war drags on. The Union and respective State governments must take necessary steps to ensure a secure future for such people.
This escalation risks plunging the entire Middle East (West Asia) into a wider and catastrophic regional war with devastating humanitarian, ecological, and geopolitical consequences. The sovereignty of nations such as Lebanon is already under severe strain as the conflict spreads beyond its initial theatres. The possibility of disruption in the Strait of Hormuz — through which a significant share of the world’s energy supplies passes — further threatens global economic stability and the livelihoods of millions.
The India Greens Party remains committed to believe that militarism is fundamentally incompatible with the survival of both humanity and the Earth. War devastates landscapes, poisons water, pollutes the atmosphere, and diverts vast resources away from the urgent global tasks of addressing climate change, ecological restoration, poverty, and social justice.
A world that spends trillions on weapons while the planet burns is a world moving toward collective disaster. We also condemn the US attack on an Iranian ship which was on its way back home after a peaceful exercise with the Indian Navy.
The India Greens Party, therefore, calls for an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation by all parties.
The United Nations and the international community must act decisively to revive diplomacy, uphold international law, and prevent further destabilisation. No powerful state should act as a self-appointed arbiter of life and death across borders.
The people of Iran, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and the wider Middle East (West Asia) deserve peace, dignity, and the right to determine their own futures free from war, occupation, and external domination.
We, the Greens, stand firmly for dialogue over destruction, international law over unilateral aggression, and a planetary future where human security, ecological balance, and democratic cooperation replace the politics of war.
