The former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday paid tributes at the memorial of his father n former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at Sriperumbudur where he was brutally assassinated on 21 st May, 1991 prior to the commencement of Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanhaiya Kumari.Rahul Gandhi had reached here Tuesday evening. He reached to his late father’s memorial in the morning and paid his, rich tributes vowing to follow his ideals and principles for a progressive hate free India. Reaching the memorial he took a round of it with folded hands and offered prayers to his late father for his supreme sacrifice for the nation n paid floral tributes. Rahul Gandhi thereafter planted a sapling in honour of his late father in the presence of the Tamilnadu Congress president K. S. Alagiri. From here Congress president has left for Kanyakumari to commence and participate in Bharat Jodo Yatra along with Congress leaders and workers. The 3500 kilometre padyatra will cover twelve states of the country spreading the message of communal harmony and brotherhood emphasising in secular society. According to the latest reports the Tamilnadu chief minister MK Stalin will hand over the national Khadi tricolor to the Congress Sewa Dal workers n Rahul Gandhi. Senior Congress leaders, Congress CMs and former CMs, former union ministers n office bearers, national and of states have reached the venue and would participate in this Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi.
