Hundreds of Uttarakhandies stage peaceful protest and Dharna at Jantar Mantar to demand stringent punishment to the culprits of Mujaffar Nagar, Rampur Tiraha
Hundreds of representatives from various socio political organisations today held a peaceful protest and dharna at Jantar Mantar demanding stringent punishment to the culprits of horrendous Mujaffarnagar, Ram Pur tri junction on 2 nd October, 1994 when hundreds of peaceful movement activists from Garhwal, Uttarakhand coming to Delhi to participate in a rally were attacked, badly injured, killed and women raped with their valuables snatched inside the bushes and agricultural fields with the culprits nit brought to justice even after 26 protracted years despite repeated demands and filing of cases from High Court, Allahabad to Supreme Court of India and twenty years of the Uttarakhand state coming into existence. Good number of womens, men, youth n senior citizens participated in this day long protest dharna raising slogans against the central and state government demand stringent punitive action against the culprits especial the then DIG Uttar Pradesh and DM of Muzaffar nagar Anant Singh and Bua Singh who must have retired from service. Prominent amongst those present in the Dharna, were it’s organiser n journalist Dev Singh Rawat, senior journalist earlier with Navbharat times and Hindustan Hindi Vyomesh Jugran, senior journalist and president of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi, president of Delhi Uttarakhand Prakosht Brijmohan Upreti, joint secretary of AICC, social activist Anil Pant, editor of Uttarakhand Jagran, Satyendra Rawat, BJP leader Vinod Bacheti, vice president of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal Pratap Shahi, women andolankari Roshni Chamoli, Mr. Bhatt, Kishore Rawat, Literateur Dinesh Dhyani, writer Ramesh Ghildiyal etc.
The protest cum Dharna which lasted till 2 PM was a grand success which is held every year on 2nd October on Gandhi Jayanti and Mujaffar Nagar black day when several peaceful andolankaries were brutally killed, grievously injured, looted and women raped by Samajwadi Party goins n the the provincial armed constabulary with not arrests made till date even after the lapse of 26 years. The activists condemned this brutal act in strongest possible terms and demanded arrests of the culprits with stringent punishment. It may be recalled that every year on 2nd October, the inhabitants of Uttarakhand protest in various book n corners of the country, including in Uttarakhand terming it as black day with leaders of various political parties and Uttarakhand movement activists paying their homage to the martyrs at Ram Pur Tiraha, Muzaffar Nagar as well as in Mussoorie, Pauri, Khatima, Dehradun etc to pay their respectful tributes to the Martyrs of Uttarakhand killed by police bullets during Uttarakhand movement in nineties.
A peaceful DHARNA at Jantar Mantar by Uttarakhandi protesters against the culprits (2nd Oct. 1994) is justified.
