Hundreds of LUCC VICTIMS protest at Jantar Mantar. Harish Rawat visits the protest site and meets the women sufferers
Hundreds of women and their family members including social activists today protested and sat on a day’s Dharna at Jantar Mantar demanding stringent legal action against the owner and staff of the LUCC, a Loni Urban Credit Cooperative Society/ company which duped them of several crores of rupees cumulatively.
The senior Congress leader and the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat also came at the venue and expressed his solidarity assuring to raise the issue in appropriate forums through the Congress leader and leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi. He asked the protestors to write a detailed letter addressed to Congress leader and LOP Rahul Gandhi highlighting their grievances so that he may convince him to raise the issue in parliament as well, as this massive scam occured during the BJP rule in the state and questioned the Cooperative ministry and the cooperative department officials of Uttarakhand as to what were they doing when this massive scam occured in the name of collecting crores of rupees duping hundreds of Uttarakhand’s women n men under the guise of multiplying them is a short span by a Loni based Cooperative company.
Harish Rawat is the only leader who has come to the Dharna spot at Jantar Mantar and no BJP MP except Anil Baluni has seriously taken up this issue by writing a letter to the Director CBI and also speaking to him telephonically to expedite the CBI investigation in this massive scam comprising of Rs 500 to 900 crores.
These struggling women have arrived from Garhwal, Uttarakhand on foot and have been staying in Delhi in their relatives’ houses to seek justice from the BJP higher ups under whose government this scam has happened and the owner absconding from India hiding somewhere in Dubai.
The struggling women raised slogans against the owner of the LUCC and its management and were demanding their arrests and refund if their hard earned money.
They were led by Saraswati Devi and Jantar Mantar by High Court advocate Rakesh Binjola.
The protesting women had also marched earlier to Rashtrapati Bhawan to meet the president and present her a memorandum from – Garhwal Bhawan where they were staying but were stopped on the way.
Meanwhile, according to the protesting women they will be holding protest demonstrations at Jantar Mantar every month and shall not relent till the end.
It may be recalled that hundreds of women from villages in Pauri Garhwal have been duped of their several crores of rupees cumulatively by LUCC. This was their hard earned income and deposits kept for the marriages of their sons and daughters and for higher education.
The LUCC had opened its offices for several months in atleast fifty locations in various parts of Uttarakhand including at Dehradun, Srinagar and various townships with boards assuring heavy profits.
The agents of the company duped the women under the guise of multiplying the profits in their deposits and finally shut their offices and absconded putting all of them in extreme jeopardy.
It is believed that the owner of this company is hiding somewhere in Dubai.
In India several such companies have duped thousands rather lakhs of people being patronised by those in the government and absconded with their crores of rupees with the consumers / depositors finally receiving nothing but just assurances and rhetorics.
The government agencies have so far proved to be worthless and futile except giving people holllow promises and nothing else.
On this ocassion Presidebt Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi, Congress leader Haripal Rawat, Vice President Congress Uttarakhand, Dhirendra Pratap, Bhupendra Rawat, farmers leader, Social activist and leader Anil Pant etc were also present.
