SUNIL NEGI

The national convenor of AAP and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival whose interim bail is coming to an end on 1 st June has been directed by the Supreme Court two judge bench to report to Tihar jail on June 2 nd as the Supreme Court registry has today refused to entertain his plea for early hearing to extend his bail for another seven days till 9 th June in view of his deteriorating health condition and conduction of certain tests like PET – CT Scan, and Holter monitoring etc.

The apex court’s registry while rejecting his plea referred to earlier orders of the SC and asked him to approach the trial court to seek regular bail instead of relying on the Supreme Court.

Now, the Delhi CM will have to go back to jail on 2 nd June or approach the trial Delhi Rouse Avenue Sessions Court at the earliest with mere two days left to apply for regular bail, not necessary that his wish will be fulfilled.

It may be recalled that the senior advocate of Arvind Kejrival Abhishekh Manu Singhvi had approached the two judge vacation bench two days ago requesting for extending his client’s interim bail till 9 June as his condition is not good having lost 7 kg of weight in a month with Kejrival also complaining of the insensitive behaviour of jail authorities while he was in jail and his sugar shot up.

The senior counsel of Kejrival Abhishekh Manu Singhvi had urged that since several important medical examinations including the PET- CT and Hotler tests are to be conducted on him including CT Scan etc whose report will take time , Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival’s interim bail may be extended till June 9 , to which the two judge vacation bench comprising of Justices J.K.Maheshwari and K.V.Vishwanathan responded in negative rejecting the plea saying that only the chief justice of India will give the decision after the case is listed for hearing as Kejrival’s petition has already been reserved for judgement on May 17.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival was arrested on March 21 on Delhi government’s New Excise policy linked scam in which the ED has accused him as the main kingpin to have allegedly received Rs.100 crores as bribe from the South Lobby through MLC Kavitha of Telangana’s regional Party Bharat Rashtra Samiti and daughter of the former CM of Telangana. Ms Kavitha is also imprisoned in Tihar Prison and his bail pleas rejected.
