Hostilities continue in Uttarakhand. Sandhya Dalakoti of Congress whose ticket was cut after Harish came to Lal Kuan, files nomination as independent
In Congress as well as in BJP, hostilities are being witnessed with party candidates who were sidelined and not given tickets, contesting as independent, posing direct threat to the candidates of both the parties.
It is not that only one party is inflicted with this disease but all the parties in the fray especially the two national parties – BJP n Congress.
However, in Congress this hostility has been more, compared to BJP say political analysts.
According to the latest news, even the chief election strategist of Uttarakhand Congress, former CM n the chairman of state election campaign committee Harish Rawat who had to change his earlier seat of Ram Nagar due to opposition by Congress workers, local leaders and former lawmaker Ranjit Singh his strongest opponent in the party, is in disarray in Lalkuan constituency as well, from where Sandhya Dalakoti of Congress, whose name was cancelled to accommodate former CM Rawat from here, has turned hostile and filed her nomination as an independent candidate.
This would definitely pose some sort of threat to Rawat’s prospects as women and some party workers may go against him.
This stand of Dalakoti may also give an undue opportunity to BJP to back her to create bottlenecks for towering Uttarakhand leader Rawat, though the fact remains that being the hidden though well known CM candidate of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, still stands in better position in Lal Kuan constituency as its former lawmaker and minister Harish Chandra Durgapal has extended his wholehearted support to his leader Harish Rawat.
A former cabinet minister of Khadi, employment and small scale Industries elected as MLA from Lalkuan Harish Durgapal carries a good reputation in Lal Kuan, very popular among masses.
He was himself the claimant for ticket but was left out, giving it to Sandhya Dalakoti, to everyones surprise.
However, her ticket was lateron cancelled and Harish Rawat shifted to Lal Kuan from Ram Nagar where former MP Mahendrapal was given the Congress ticket.
The earlier claimant and former MLA Ranjit Singh who had lost from Ram Nagar in 2017 was sent to Salt assembly seat.
Mr. Rawat too filed his nomination papers today and has expressed his confidence of winning from Lalkuan with a heavy margin.
Meanwhile, a senior Congress leader, former minister and three term MLA from Devprayag, Tehri and Rishikesh Shoorvir Singh Sajwan after being denied ticket from Rishikesh is contesting as independent.
The Rudrapur two term lawmaker Rajkumar Thukral too is reportedly contesting from here as independent hostile candidate after his ticket was cut having uttered highly objectionable words against the state party chief.
After being in Congress for four decades two term MLA from Tehri, Kishore Upadhyay too has filed nomination as the BJP candidate from Tehri after being expelled from Congress for six years.
Similarly, the BJP sitting MLA Dhan Singh Negi joined Congress, leaving the saffron party in a huff at the last minute after his ticket was given to Kishore Yadav.
The Congress party declared Dhan Singh Negi as its officialCandidate who also filed his nomination today.
