Himachal CM declares HP an ecological disaster affected state

In view of the massive rains in Himachal Pradesh and subsequent destruction and damages to houses, vehicles, commercial hotels and buildings including loss of human lives on large scale with colossal economic loss of Rs. 3.500 crores, the chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has declared Himachal Pradesh as the the ecological catastrophe affected state. Now, in HP the rules and regulations of ecological disaster will be applied.

In view of the heavy losses of human lives, destruction to properties in massive scale and destabilisation of people in the affected areas of Himachal Pradesh, the chief minister has demanded the special economic package to deal with he ongoing critical situation in the state from the centre.

While speaking to the media the chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that he has no political ego and is ready to go under the leadership of BJP chief and union health minister J.P.Nadda or leader of the opposition of Himachal Pradesh to the prime minister for special economic package to help the people of Himachal Pradesh who are drastically affected by the ecological disasters in the state.

The chief minister said that the pain of all the hill states including Himachal is our shared pain. This is not just a geographical crisis, it is also a matter of national concern. Because the mountains are the worst hit by global warming. Awareness and action in time is the biggest need of today. I urge the central government to put a stop to indiscriminate construction work. Because our mountains are not just tourist spots, they are pillars of life-saving asserted CM, HP.

Speaking on the government’s proactive efforts in providing relief the CM said : The disaster has caused heavy damage to homes, livestock and agriculture. Our government stands with the affected brothers and sisters in this difficult time. We are leaving no stone unturned in the work of rehabilitation.

However, accusing the BJP of trying to exploit the situation to seek political mileage out of ecological catastrophe Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the attitude of BJP in the state is extremely unfortunate and against the interests of the state saying that when the saffron party leaders should have stood with the natural calamity hit people they are busy exploiting the situation politically to seek political mileage. This is unfortunate. I pray to God that BJP gets so much wisdom that its leaders can understand the pain and suffering of the people deeply. The opposition should learn from its senior leader Shanta Kumar ji and think in the interest of the state said CM Sukhu while speaking to media.

He said : Heavy rains and landslides have disrupted life, disrupting essential services like water, electricity and roads. Urging one and all to come to the rescue of the disaster affected people Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said : Immediately after the disaster, our Karmayogi colleagues took up the relief work without wasting any time. Due to this spirit of service, the restoration work is progressing rapidly.
