A high level delegation of Communist Party of India , (CPI) Delhi State Council led by COM. K. Narayana CPI national secretary accompanied by Prof. Dinesh Varshney secretary CPI Delhi State Council, comrades Shankarlal, Keher Singh, Abrar Ahmed , Secretariat members of CPI Delhi State and Babban Kumar Singh State Council member visited the demolition site of MADARASI CAMP, at Jangpura B basti, in New Delhi. While talking to the affected people the delegation came to know that they are living here since last 50 to 60 years after coming from TAMILNADU. These people living in this basti belong to the poorest of the poor section of Delhi.They are working as daily wagers, domestic workers, safari karamcharies and small small vendors etc to arrange sustenance for their respective families.
Now the BJP DELHI GOVERNMENT under the guise of beautification have started demolitions and want to send them 50 kilometres away from the present site to Narela thus taking away their fundamental constitutional rights to earn, live and survive .The government intentions are malafide on the false pretext of waterlogging in 2024 in order to eliminate these poor people from their huts and jhuggis. This waterlogging is caused by metro rail construction. There are other means to clear seasonal waterlogging.The real fact is that by removing this basti from present place the government wants to handover this land to their corporate cronies.
While addressing the media and the affected people of this cluster the senior Communist leader Com. K. Narayana said – the CPI demands that these poor people should be provided permanent houses by constructing multi storey buildings there itself as promised by the earlier government’s so that their livelihood , employment and their children education can be saved. Narayana further said that BJP government is eliminating these poor people from their residential basties from present places who want to implement their policy to remove all poor people, SC’S/ST,S from the main boundaries of Delhi city to oblige their ultra rich. The BJP is behaving like kings of Ancient India . The CPI will not allow this and will continue its agitation in support of the poorest citizens of Delhi said the CPI leaders..
