Heavy ” Tabahi” in GARHWAL Uttarakhand due to excessive rains and cloud burst incident

Bhilangana Ghati in Tehri Garhwal Uttarakhand is the worst sufferer during this monsoon with two villages almost washed out in the massive cloud burst incident and the villagers being settled elsewhere having literally become bankrupt during these rains. Yesterday’s another cloud burst incident and excessive rains with several houses of a village, roads and farm lands literally washed away with heavy boulders and tons of water with muck and silt literally sweeping away well built houses , agricultural lands and other structures with domestic animals dying. There is news of heavy damage in the villages around Ghutthu area in Bhillang Valley of Tehri district due to heavy rains that have been continuing since yesterday.
Houses, courtyards, roads, paths and agriculture have suffered heavy damage. It is a matter of relief that there is no news of loss of life. Some people have left their homes in danger and have gone to other places…….

According to another news in Chamoli district , Garhwal the excessive rains resulted in heavy destruction in the entire area at various localities. The Badrinath Highway has been completely closed due to heavy boulders blocking it which fell down from the mountains. Several vehicles and houses have been smashed and damaged due to this heavy landslide. The roads at Nandprayag, Chatwapepal and Kameta have been completely blocked due to the massive debris of the landslide. In Karnaprayag the roads caved in and a landslide also occurred resulting in complete blockade of the traffic including closure of the local market.

In Karnaprayag the damage has been tremendous due to torrential rains. In several houses especially in Bagani village, the rain water has entered with full force , coming out massively. The residents are in terror n panic due to their house being filled with rain water and silt fearing its demolition etc. This happened at 3 AM with residents not able to sleep. In Subhash Nagar and Upper Bazaar several vehicles have been damaged. In Devtoli the compound of a house has been damaged and cracks appearing in several houses in Devtoli in Karnaprayag, Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

Not only this but the Nainital- Karnaprayag highway too was blocked for several hours . It was blocked because of a massive landslide coming from the top on 500 metres area of the highway. The vehicles heading for Kumaon region has to wait for several hours including Maithana Kuhed road blocked as well due to boulders falling on the road from the mountains. About fifteen families are also under risk due to massive landslide coming in Sini village of Nandprayag area.

There is debris in every house and the agricultural farms completely damaged with crops destroyed fully. Meanwhile the meteorological department of Uttarakhand has issued a yellow alert of heavy rains in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, and Bageshwar etc. There are clear cut instructions not to visit the hilly areas of Uttarakhand as several other districts may also witness torrential rains in the coming days.
