Uttarakhand which wasn’t reporting the snow fall with environmentalist and weather experts expressing their worries over this unusual global warning impact has finally brought pleasure in everyone’s life. Today snowfall in Uttarakhand’s various districts have raised an immense ray of hope for environmentalists and weather scientists and experts.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department report Uttarkashi, Chamoli will witness hailstorms and snow fall the day with temperature going down to 5 degrees celcius in mountains evening coming down to minus degrees in high altitude areas and 10 degree temperature in plain areas with Kedarnath routes to remain closed due to unexpected heavy snow fall and hailstorms.

According to the IMD latest report in Uttarakhand temperature today is 10°C with Dehradun being severely cold, and visibility at 50m. Alerts have been issued regarding snowfall of heavy nature in the districts, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh on January 23. with hailstorm warning in entire Uttarakhand including thunderstorms winds to be at the speed of 40 kmph and low areas being vulnerable.​

While dense fog is affecting the plains, including Dehradun and Haridwar, light rain is likely in lower areas, with snowfall expected above 3,500 metres.

The IMD has also flagged hailstorms, thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 40 kmph, making low-lying and exposed areas vulnerable. According to the latest weather prediction in Uttarakhand dry conditions will exist in the plains, gradually transitioning to wet weather in the hills, with around a 20% chance of rainfall in districts such as Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar. Night temperatures are falling further, causing ground frost, prompting protective measures for vineyards and winter crops. Owing to persistent snowfall risk, the Char Dham Yatra has been temporarily suspended, while helicopters are being deployed to deliver supplies to remote villages cut off by snow. Instructions are being issued to the tourists and devotees to avoid going to his hh altitude areas especially on the Char Dham routes for fear if landslides and hailstorms and heavy snowfall.

Snowfall is continuing in the high altitude areas of Uttarkashi district.

Snowfall continues at several major tourist destinations, including Shri Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham, Kharsali (Khushimatta), Jankichatti, Sankri, Harkidun, Raditop, Sukkitop, and Harsil Valley.

Snowfall started in high altitude areas including Dhanaulti, Surkanda Devi, Kanatal, Sem Mukhem, Gangi, Genwali, Pratapnagar.
