Heartfelt Tributes paid to Writer and fmr Director ( Information) NDMC Madan Mohan Thapliyal at Press Club of India
A condolence meeting was held on 26 th April at Press Club of India auditorium in honour of the former Director Public Relations of Information department NDMC , a vivacious, reader, prolific writer and a good human being Madan Mohan Thapliyal.
The president of Press Club of India Umakant Lakhera, Goverdhan Thapliyal, elder brother, senior journalist Vivek Shukla, senior journalist Habib Akhtar, Sunil Chaturvedi, Thapliyal’s nephew Kamal Thapliyal, chief editor of Rashtra Times Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, Dr. Butta- Dental surgeon, and a close friend of Thapliyal and senior Aryurvedic doctor who’d also promised to organise a day of Ayurvedic treatment camp in Press Club of India on May 3 the birthday of late Madan Mohan Thapliyal.
Anchoring the condolence meeting the PCI president Umakant Lakhera narrated his long association with Thapliyal whom he had met for the very first time in 1988 when he had come to Delhi for the very first time, joining a newspaper. Praising him as a thorough gentleman he said that Thapliyal ji was always very cooperative asking him to write an article for a Souvenir of Jwalpa Devi magazine saying that unless he does not share an article the magazine won’t be published. He lauded Thapliyal ji for his dedication n devotion in writing books, doing so much for Press Club of India and always helping journalists who went to him for support and assistance pertaining to NDMC affairs.
The senior journalist Vivek Shukla termed his, as his Guru and said that it was his inspiration and helping attitude in sharing important information that I was able to pen down my book ” DILLI KA PEHLA PYAR CANNAUGHT PLACE”. Praising Thapliyal to the core as a gentleman to gentleman to the hilt, a vivacious €€€reader n writer Shukla said that he not only rose from scratch to Director Public Relations in NDMC through his intelligence, good behaviour, affableness and intellect but wrote more that 15 books and enacted several Garhwali plays in Delhi including writing a special book on New Delhi exhibiting his, affection for Delhi as well as, Dev Bhoomi equally. Senior journalist Habib Akhtar while lauding Madan Mohan Thapliyal for his extremely cooperative attitude and helping nature not only towards journalists but everyone said that though there are several people in PR profession but Thapliyalji’s contribution as a PR man, writer and good human being have been exceptional. The senior journalist and editor Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi recounting his protracted association with Thapliyalji said that his contribution for Press Club is worth praising and the way he entertained journalists visiting him at NDMC is an exemplary example of help and support to journalists.
He said that Thapliyal helped people out of the way even in medical treatment to the needy in NDMC hospitals etc. A senior Ayurvedic doctor who was a close friend of Thapliyalji while praising him urged Press Club of India management to accord him permission to organise a day Ayurvedic camp in PCI premises on the birth anniversary day of late Madam Mohan Thapliyalji. The elder brother of Thapliyal, Govardhan Thapliyal and nephew Kamal Thapliyal thanked everyone for praising Madan Mohan Thapliyal so much and said in tears that they have lost an affectionate n reverential uncle, true friend, brother and a disciplined n affable companion. The president of Uttarakhand Journalist Forum Sunil Negi and Sunil Chaturvedi also paid their heartfelt condolences on this occasion and urged the Almighty to give him place at his pious feet and enough strength to the bereaved family to bear this, irreparable loss.
