Harish Rawat requests Rahul Gandhi to relieve him as Punjab incharge in view of Uttarakhand elections coming near ? Punjab war between Amrinder n Sidhu too intensifies

While the crisis in Punjab Congress continues unabated with the war of words between chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh and state Congress chief becoming headlines in the media, the Punjab Congress in charge Harish Rawat met former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath and deliberated on the ongoing crisis also submitting his detailed report.

There are also speculations that Congress general secretary, CWC member and incharge Punjab Congress affairs has also requested Rahul Gandhi to be relieved from the Punjab responsibility so that he is able to concentrate in Uttarakhand, where the state assembly elections are due for March/ April 22.

Meanwhile, speaking to media after meeting Rahul Gandhi Harish Rawat made crystal clear that the elections of Punjab will be fought under the leadership of Captain Amrinder Singh but also spoke in favour of Navjyot Singh Sidhu saying that if the state president will not get a feed hand in performing his role as state chief then what is the use of holding the responsibility of state organisation or what relevance will the party chief hold then? He said he will be going to Chandigarh in a day or two where he will meet the CM n the state party chief. He specifically said that the decision of the central High command will be final and everyone will have to abide by it. Rawat had two days ago met the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and today Rahul Gandhi apprising them of the latest Punjab situation and getting a possible feed back on the ongoing crisis.

On the outbursts of Sidhu that if he will not be given the free hand in the state he will not heed to the central High command, Harish Rawat said that it remains to be seen as to, in what context has Sidhu made these outbursts.

It may be recalled that while addressing a meeting in Punjab, Sidhu had in a hard tone said that if the party high command gives him free hand he will by all means ensure that Congress rules in Punjab for next twenty years but if his freedom is snatched he will oppose, tooth n nail.

In addition to this, Sidhu’s one of the advisors Mali who had been openly criticizing the chief minister Amrinder Singh has been forced to resign on the instructions of the central High command.

The chief minister Amrinder Singh has on Friday convened a meeting of his lawmakers in which 58 MLAs out of total 80 and 8 MPs were present.

This show of strength revealed that Captain Amrinder Singh still commands a majority in Punjab.

Meanwhile Punjab Incharge Harish Rawat while speaking to media said that there is no need to arrive at any definite conclusion unless he personally visits Punjab and analyse the situation himself as to who is at fault.

He categorically said while the state party chief should get complete freedom to work in Punjab Sidhu being an intelligent and important leader of the party, the ensuing Punjab elections will be fought under chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh’s leadership.

In nutshell, while Punjab is suffering from internal squabbles with factionalism openly coming to the fore, becoming news headlines, the infighting in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh Congress n the governments have also made mockery of the central High command not able to control them.
