Harish Rawat from Ram Nagar and Anukriti Gusain from LANSDOWNE cleared with Suryakant Dhasmana okayed from Dehradun Cantt
The chief election strategist of Uttarakhand Congress and chairman of state election committee Harish Rawat’s ticket has been finalised from Ram Nagar from where his ardent rival within Congress, former lawmaker Ranjit Rawat was claiming ticket. He had lost last time ( in 2017) to the BJP lawmaker Diwan Singh Bisht.
According to sources, the senior vice president of Uttarakhand Congress from Pritam Singh camp Suryakant Dhasmana has bagged the Dehradun Cantt seat.
He would now be contesting against the wife of the seasoned lawmaker Harbans Lal Kapoor who had expired recently, namely Savita Kapoor.
Dhasmana, has lost the previous election by around 8 thousand votes.
The much talked about ticket of the daughter in law of the former cabinet minister Dr Harak Singh Rawat, who recently joined Congress after being unceremoniously expelled from BJP, Anukriti Gusain a former Miss India Delhi and model has been cleared from Lansdowne, despite tremendous opposition by the other claimants viz Raghubir Singh Bisht, Dhirendra Pratap, vice president Uttarakhand Congress and Deepak Bhandari district president etc.
From Rishikesh the senior Congress leader Vijay Saraswat and former Congress chief Kharola were the losers as Jayendra Ramola, a new comer has been given the Congress ticket.
From Doiwala, assembly constituency where former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat is the sitting lawmaker from BJP and has expressed his desire not to contest, Mohit Uniyal got the Congress ticket.
From Jwalapur Barkha Rani got the ticket whereas from Jhabreda Virendra Jati and from Khanpur Subhadh Kumar have been accorded the Congress ticket. Subhash’s rival is Devyani, the wife of two term lawmaker and muscle yielding politician who insulted Uttarakhandies in one of his statement and allegedly fired a shot on a former student leader of Dehradun. Frim Laksar Antriksh Saini and from Kaladoongi Mahendrapal have been declared Congress candidates.
From Lal Kuan where there were rumours of Rawat shifting, in case he does not get ticket from Ram Nagar, Sandhya Dalakoti has been given the Congress ticket.
However, till now no official list has been issued by the CEC chief n AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik.
Out of the six seats, Chowbattakhal from where the name of Dr. Harak Singh is being coined as the prospective Congress candidate and former defeated candidate Rajpal Bisht too is in the race actively, against Satpal Maharaj of BJP and Haridwar Gramin being demanded by Anupama Rawat, general secretary of Mahila Congress n Rawat’s daughter are still in hanging mode including six other seats four from Kumaon region including Salt from where may be Ranjit Rawat would contest, though, unwillingly.
The two important seats of Tehri Garhwal viz Tehri and Narendra Nagar seats are still in a fix from where the names of former Uttarakhand Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay and Om Gopal Rawat a BJP applicant from Narendra Nagar assembly constituency are to be declared.
There are reports that while Kishore Upadhyay from Tehri seat was recently removed from all party posts by Congress Uttarakhand incharge, Devendra Yadav accusing him of anti party activities for meeting the BJP leaders. From Narendra Nagar seat there are indications that the former BJP MLA who is a strong contender against BJP’s Subodh Uniyal is joining Congress and the party wants to give him the chance to counter Uniyal. Hence decisions on both these seats have been kept in abeyance till tomorrow.
Too much uncertainties and confusion. No one is sure of support from within the party. In such a situation the voters have a very responsible role to play. Nothing can be taken for granted.
