Gujarat, Ahmadabad Court summons Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival and RS Member Sanjay Singh on 7 th June in a defamation case by Gujarat university
A Court in Gujarat has issued summons to the Delhi chief minister and national convenor of AAP Arvind Kejrival as, well as a vociferous Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. The summons were issued on 23 rd May. Both the top AAP leaders who are at loggerheads with topmost BJP leadership especially prime minister Narendra Modi on various issues, were asked to present themselves on 7 th June in a Court of additional metropolitan magistrate Sir M. J. Panchal who’d issued them the summons. The summons were issued after a petition filed by Gujarat university for their ridiculing and insulting statements pertaining to the degree of prime minister Narendra Modi. According to the latest news both the leaders were earlier issued summons for being present in 23 rd May, but the Court issued a fresh summons yesterday saying that perhaps both the AAP leaders must not have received them, therefore these new summons to present themselves in 7 th June. Earlier the additional chief Metropolitan magistrates Court had issued summons to both these AAP leaders under the criminal defamation suit for ridiculing and insulting the Gujarat university in the PM degree case but according to the AAP legal cell chief of Gujarat Mr. Pramod Thakkar the summons could not be received by both the leaders earlier. While issuing them summons for 7 th June the Court said that a case under IPC (500) defamation seems to exist. It may be recalled that in social media, as well as in news – print and electronics there have be lot hullabaloo over this issue with opposition parties especially AAP and its leaders trying to exploit the situation to their advantage speaking lot against the PM’s degree which was released in the media by union home Minister Amit Shah on 9 th May 2016.
