On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, eminent Indian-origin and internationally acclaimed senior photographer Mr. Paul Awasthi, along with his wife, was warmly welcomed at the residence of Ms. Vibhuti Chaturvedi, daughter of Mr. Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, at the affectionate invitation of the Rashtra Times family.
Their visit filled the festive evening with the radiant glow of Diwali lights and the fragrance of Indian tradition, creating an atmosphere of joy, nostalgia, and togetherness. Mr. Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi felicitated Mr. and Mrs. Awasthi by presenting them with a shawl, a memento, and a special souvenir edition of Rashtra Times. He mentioned that the souvenir represents 45 years of continuous publication of Rashtra Times and 52 years of his own remarkable journey in journalism. Mr. Chaturvedi said, “Personalities like Paul Awasthi, who have vividly captured the emotions of society, culture, and human life through their lens since the 1960s, are indeed the pride of the Indian diaspora.” Six Decades of Dedication, Experience, and Creativity in Photography: Sharing his experiences, Mr. Awasthi recalled that he began his photography career in 1960 at Sagar Studio in New Delhi. With years of dedication and hard work, he honed his technical skills while working with NCERT and, in 1966, founded the renowned Awasthi Photo Studio with his family.
Over the years, he photographed several distinguished personalities including former Vice President V.V. Giri, Education Minister V.K.R.V. Rao, and popular film celebrities such as Jeetendra, Dharmendra, Rajshree, Mala Sinha, and Manoj Kumar.
In 1972, he moved to Canada, where he embraced modern photographic techniques and elevated his art to new heights.
He currently covers various cultural events across Canada for Rashtra Times. A Symbol of Golden Era in Indian Journalism:

श्री चतुर्वेदी ने कहा “पॉल अवस्थी जैसे व्यक्तित्व, जिन्होंने 1960 के दशक से कैमरे के माध्यम से समाज, संस्कृति और मानव जीवन की भावनाओं को सजीव रूप में दर्ज किया, वास्तव में भारतीय प्रवासी समाज के गौरव हैं।” फोटोग्राफी के छह दशक अनुभव, समर्पण और सृजन की कहानी : अपने अनुभव साझा करते हुए श्री पॉल अवस्थी ने बताया कि उन्होंने 1960 में नई दिल्ली के सागर स्टूडियो में अपने फोटोग्राफी करियर की शुरुआत की थी। वर्षों की मेहनत और लगन के बाद उन्होंने एनसीईआरटी (NCERT) में कार्य करते हुए तकनीकी दक्षता अर्जित की और 1966 में अपने परिवार के साथ ‘अवस्थी फोटो स्टूडियो’ की स्थापना की। उन्होंने अनेक प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्तित्वों — स्व. उपराष्ट्रपति वी.वी. गिरी, शिक्षा मंत्री वी.के.आर.वी. राव, और फिल्म जगत की सुप्रसिद्ध हस्तियों जीतेन्द्र, धर्मेन्द्र, राजश्री, माला सिन्हा और मनोज कुमार — की फोटोग्राफी की।
1972 में वे कनाडा आए और आधुनिक फोटोग्राफी तकनीकों के साथ अपनी कला को नई ऊँचाइयों तक पहुँचाया। वर्तमान में वे कनाडा में आयोजित विभिन्न सांस्कृतिक आयोजनों को राष्ट्र टाइम्स के लिए कवर कर रहे हैं। राष्ट्र टाइम्स को बताया भारतीय पत्रकारिता का स्वर्णिम प्रतीक :श्री अवस्थी ने कहा कि “राष्ट्र टाइम्स का 45 वर्षों तक निरंतर प्रकाशन पत्रकारिता का एक गौरवशाली अध्याय है। विजय शंकर चतुर्वेदी का समर्पण और ईमानदार दृष्टिकोण इस युग को वास्तव में स्वर्णिम युग बनाते हैं।”उन्होंने प्रवासी भारतीय समुदाय में राष्ट्र टाइम्स की भूमिका की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि “यह केवल एक समाचार पत्र नहीं, बल्कि भारत और कनाडा के बीच संस्कृति, संवेदना और संवाद का जीवंत पुल है।”
