SUNIL NEGI WITH SATISH KALESHWARI
The Uttarakhandi film “Garh-Kumaon”, written and directed by Anuj Joshi, is a mesmerizing movie that depicts a heart-touching story of the mutual relations between the two regions of Uttarakhand, Garhwal and Kumaon.
This is the first film made in two dialects of Uttarakhand, Kumauni and Garhwali. It was a great vision of Anuj Joshi to bring to the silver screen the attempt to melt the centuries-old ice in the mutual relations between the two regions.
This movie “Garh- Kumaon” has been made by building this story into a strong script. The specialty of this movie is that to give the movie linguistic naturalness and regional purity, Kumaoni characters have been played by Kumaoni actors and Garhwali characters have been played by Garhwali actors.
Even the duet songs have been written by half Kumauni lyricist and half Garhwali lyricist.
In this story, neither side is winner nor loser, yes if there is any winner then it is Uttarakhandi identity.
The society, due to the fear of its traditions and customs, is eager to break the love of two young lovers before it reaches a happy ending and tries its best to ensure that their friendship never flourishes.
You can enjoy what happens next only by watching the movie.
