Four out of 177 participants in Paris Olympics are from Uttarakhand

While today is the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics to be concluded on 17 th August India has sent a second largest contingent numbering 117 athletics. Out of these 117 athletic Uttarakhand is being represented by four to exhibit their outstanding fests in badminton and athletics. The four players likely to exhibit their outstanding performance in Paris Olympics are Lakshya Sen in Badminton. Ankita Dhyani in 5000 metres long race, Paramjit Singh Bisht in 20 kilometres walkathon and Suraj Pawar in Walking mixed merathon race.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has congratulated the entire contingent of 117 athletics, the second largest in the world for the success in their performances in Paris Olympics saying that he is happy to learn that out of 117 athletes, four are from Uttarakhand. The CM wrote on his social media handle X : Be victorious! On behalf of all the people of Uttarakhand, hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the members of the Indian team going to participate in the Paris Olympics 2024. It is my wish that all of you perform your best and hoist the flag of India’s glory all over the world. It is also a matter of joy for Uttarakhand that in the 117-member team participating in the Olympics 2024 on behalf of India, 4 athletes are also from the state. Meanwhile today on the first day of the Opening of Paris Olympics the entire Railway network in the French capital have been sabotaged leading to coming halt of rail movement affecting about 8 lakh commuters. Preliminary clues from various investigating agencies and French Law Enforcement sources suggest that anarchists or hard core leftist medical groups may be behind this massive high railway network sabotage . The various law enforcement agencies are ferociously on the job to reach to the bottom of the saboteurs.

Born in Almora, Uttarakhand Lakshya Sen’s father is an Indian Coach. Born on 16 August 2001 Sen is a leading Indian Badsminton player have been the World Junior No.1 and winner of Gold medals in 2018 Asian Games junior championships in the boys singles and in the Summer Youth Olympics in the mixed team event. He is also credited for winning the Bronze medal in the 2021 World Championships and was runner up at the 2022 All England open. Outstandig Badminton player Lakshya had also won another God at the Common Wealth Games 2022.

Ankita Dhyani is a highly promising athelete from Garhwal Uttarakhand .

Born on February, 5, 2002 she is a greatly inspiring middle distance and long distance runner amd was credited for being named in the Indian Athletics team for 5000 meter event in the Indian Games of 2022 heldin Hangzhou , China.

A very determined athelete Ankita has qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics Games at Paris and will be representing in the Women’s 5000 metres race in Paris Olympics.

According to Wikipedia her earlier achievements are : 2023: In May, she qualified for the Asian Athletics championships in Thailand for the 1500m event.
2021: In January, she won gold in both 1500m and 5000m at the Federation Cup Junior U-20 Athletics Championships at Sangrur, Punjab.
2021: She won gold in both 1500m and 5000m at the Junior National Championships in Guwahati. In 5000m she clocked 16:21.19, to set a Junior National record erasing the 16:21.59 mark set by Sunita Rani 23 back.
2021: In August, she took part in 1500m and 5000m at the World Under-20 championships at Nairobi, Kenya.
2018: She won the gold in the 200m at the Youth Nationals in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
2019: She won the 1500m in the Junior Nationals at Ranchi.
2019: She won gold in 1500m and 5000m at the Khelo India Youth games at Pune.

Paramjeet Singh Bisht is credited wirh winning the Bronze medal on 19 th March 2023 in 20 kilometres walkathon in Asia in merely 1.20.8 seconds thus qualifying the Olympic threshold. The qualifying mark was 1 hour 20 minute and 10 seconds but Paramjit Singh qualified it two seconds before. Another walker winner of Bronze medal Vikas Singh has also qualified coming ahead of him by five seconds. Both of them are participating in the Olympics. Paramjit Singh was born on 3 rd March 2002.
