Four dead and one woman rescued after a Thar fell into the river at Devprayag today morning

An extremely sad and tragic news is coming from Devprayag, Garhwal, Uttarakhand where a vehicle with a family going in a marriage function fell 350 metres down into Alaknanda and Bhagirathi river at Devprayag on Srinagar Garhwal road near Mulya Gaon. The vehicle THAR carrying five persons of a family went out of control, may be on speed and fell down in the river amid deadly cries and shrieks of the occupants. After receiving the tragic news the SDRF team and the local police from Devprayag, Garhwal reached the accidental spot. A team from Dhalwala already reached the tragic site. Till now only a woman could be rescued and taken to the nearby hospital for treatment whereas the four occupants of the car are reportedly missing and probably dead. The SDRF team and divers are busy in the search operation extensively. The inspector of SDRF Kavindra Chouhan revealed that all the occupants of the THAR were from Pauri Garhwal and were heading for a marriage to Gauchar.

According to another version the died were give in numbers and were from Faridabad going for paying obeisance to Diety Dharee Devi. The Thar which couldn’t be controlled fell into a 300 meter deep gorge near Badshah Hotel under Thana Devprayag area and drowned in Alaknanda river. The local police administration reached the spot and rescued a woman named Anita. She has been sent to Base Hospital Srinagar for treatment.
