Four dead in Koh river at Duggada near Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal while bathing. Two boys seriously injured.
An unbelievably, a tragedy has occured in Kotdwar in Pauri Garhwal district on Tuesday where four persons have died due to drowning in Koh river. In addition to the four dead two persons have been admitted in a hospital at Kotdwar in extremely serious condition with doctors monitoring their health in ICU. Those died in the river due to drowning reportedly belonged to Nagina under the jurisdiction of district Bijnaur, Uttar Pradesh. According to the latest news pouring in, this tragedy occured in the Koh village near Duggada, about 25 kilometres away from Kotdwar where eight young n middle aged persons from Nagina, Bijnaur had come to take a bath in Koh river, in the evening after taking rounds of Duggada on the eve of Eid.
According to the police sources at around 4, O clock six youths were taking bath in the Koh river. All of a sudden all the six got drowned in the river. After hearing their cries for help some people tried to come to their rescue and desperately tried to evacuate them but by the time they were rescued four boys had died while two could be revived and taken to base hospital Kotdwar for treatment.
The parents of the deceased have been informed about the tragedy and post mortem conducted by the police. The dead jave been identified as Nadeem son of Aneesh, 42 year old, Jev 29 yrs old son of Shaheed, Guddu son of Shaheed, Ghalib son of Khalid.
Hill rivers get into spate fast. There must be warning boards displayed on the entry point in the river for the people entering in the river by Munispal committees.
