Four Congress MLAs present in the plantation event of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and legislator Harish Dhami strongly criticizes the top Congress leadership of the state sends worrisome signals in the party

It seems that all is not well in the Congress party in Uttarakhand. The Congress vociferous legislator from Kumaon Uttarakhand Harish Dhami who has been airing his differences with the state party high command behaving more like an MLA of the ruling party has once against spit his ire against his own Congress party and the top state leadership for not giving enough time to him to speak in the Gairsain Assembly session to air his views on the ecological disasters and the plight of his people unambiguously accusing his party leadership for giving him just five minutes whereas the ruling party gave him half an hour. He threatened the party leadership of dire consequences saying that this is intolerable as we represent the state where our youths in Indian Army lay down their lives for the country. Dhami and four legislators of the Congress namely Madan Singh Bisht, Harish Dhami, Adesh Chouhan, Manoj Tiwari and only one BJP MLA Anil Nautiyal were seen lauding the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state CM in a function of planting a tree at Gairsain seen as the Congress MLAs coming closer to the CM posing a question as if this is not the warning signal for the party in the near future. The way Harish Dhami MLA openly came out against the Congress leadership criticizing them for not raising a single issue on the state and sidelining him and thereafter four Congress MLAs joining the CM merrily in a plantation programme clearly states that all is not well in the Congress party . Meanwhile , the Congress MLA Madan Singh Bisht has met the CM in connection with the old pension scheme as well as regularisation of the services of MANREGA employees at his residence. Madan Singh Bisht said that all the legislators have taken breakfast with the chief minister and discussed the issues of their respective constituencies including participation in the plantation event. He thanked the chief minister for assuring them for the fulfilment of their demands. It may be recalled that Shekhar Pant , has planted four thousand fruits plants in Bhararisain , Gairasain Assembly precincts lauded by the chief minister. The Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami too planted a tree in the name of his mother Bishna Devi in the presence of four Congress MLAs and one BJP MLA. Meanwhile the former Congress chief minister and senior most leader Harish Rawat has lauded the Congress leader and MLA Harish Dhami. Harish Rawat wrote on his Facebook book and later on posted it in X writing : Both the #Assembly and Assembly sessions have disappointed me a lot. Short session, but could not even a separate discussion be held on the increasing atrocities, malpractices and misconduct against women in the state? The state’s resolve to respect women could not be reiterated and the Assembly which could not discuss the situation of natural disaster from a bird’s eye view, the Assembly which could not discuss the horrific disaster that occurred in areas like Dharchula, Badrinath, Pindar, Kedarnath, Kapkot etc. MLAs cannot speak, it can be anyone’s assembly, but it cannot be the assembly of my Uttarakhand and my dreams.

I congratulate Harish Dhami and the Congress MLAs that they forcefully invited the discussion, but people who got scared in the name of discussion did not allow the discussion to proceed. What an irony it is that bills on issues like abolition of Zamindari within the state, punishment on rioters and land law are passed without discussion in the Assembly! In fact, as a person associated with legislative work and also as an Uttarakhandi, I am very disappointed.

I am proud that we also have struggling MLAs like Harish Dhami who have effectively raised the voice of disaster victims both in the Assembly and outside the Assembly wrote Harish Rawat on FB post.
