Forty fifth foundation year of Rashtra Times commemorated at Press Club of India

The forty fifth foundation year of the reputed Hindi weekly Rashtra Times and and fifty second year in active journalism of its founder editor Vijay Shankar Chautrvedi was commemorated at Press Club of India yesterday evening in the presence of eminent journalists and dignitaries. Prominent among those present on this occassion were several times MP and for Delhi Congress chief Jai Prakash Aggarwal, former speaker of Delhi Assembly and Delhi minister Yoganand Shastri, former editor of Doorandesh and former MP and parliamentary party secretary J.K.Jain, former minister and senior journalist Ramakant Goswami, former MLA and Communication In-charge Congress Anil Bharadwaj, Tehri MLA, Kishore Upadhyay, Former MLA and Padma Shree Mr. Shunty, Delhi Press Club of India chief Gautam Lahiri, Secretary General Neeraj Thakur and former IAS in Delhi Government Suresh Bhandari, now Congress leader. The event was presided over by Dr. Yoganand Shastri. The function started after the lightening of the lamp. All the dignitaries also released the suvenier of the journey of Rashtratimes and its editor Vijay Shankar Chautrvedi in journalist for 52 protracted years. The dignitaries and the press club of India chief Gautam Lahiri and former IAS Suresh Bhandari , secretary general press club of India Neeraj Thakur and several journalists were also felicitated with a trophy and shawl as a mark of respect to them. All the dignitaries spoke in appreciation of Rashtratimes founder Vijay Shankar Chautrvedi for being active in journalist for the last 52 years and uninterruptedly bringing out the weekly newspaper since the last 45 years despite various challenges and ups and down. The chief of the Press Club of India Gautam Lahiri while lauding the efforts of Vijay Shankar Chautrvedi to keep the flag of fourth estate high said that not only in journalism but in the development of the Press Club of India he is the main pillar behind. PCI president Gautam Lahiri expressing his serious concern over the present trend of journalism said that the need of the hour is the formulation of a credible national media policy in the country which ch all the countries have except India. Among the prominent journalists awarded on this occassion were Amitabh Srivastava , a veteran journalist of Hindustan Times earlier for several decades, Anil Sharma , editor of NTS News , senior journalists Dev Sagar Singh , Arvind Kumar Singh, Harish Lakhera and others. The function was able moderated by senior journalist Sandeep Sharma.
