Former Uttarakhand CM Rawat demands Andolankari respect pension for the movement activists of Delhi and NCR, sits on symbolic one hour hunger strike
The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and member Congress Working Committee Harish Rawat has undertaken a symbolic hunger strike today to register his protest against the present BJP government’s negligent and apathetic attitude of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for not accepting the protracted demands of the separate Uttarakhand movement activists for including them in the list of officially recognised Uttarakhand andolankaris enabling them become getting the monthly pension and other facilities – who have devoted their entire energy and time for separate Uttarakhand state during nineties finally getting the demand fructified by the central government this firming the state on 9 th November, 2000.
The former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat in a video released on his social media handle X said that everyone knows how significantly the Uttarakhand movement activists have relentlessly struggled in Delhi and NCR during the movement days finally giving the movement tremendous momentum thus pressurising the central government to accept their demand.
He catagorically said he is himself witness to the these relentlessly struggling movement activists who have dedicated themselves fully towards this demand but unfortunately since the last eight years these andolankaries are knocking the doors of the chief minister’s office but of no avail said Harish Rawat.
He said that everything is complete and their is complete documentation the only lack being at the level of the government to convene a meeting of the cabinet committee and get it passed officially.
But the BJP government is not doing so said Harish Rawat in his video message despite repeated knockings at the doors of the Uttarakhand CM’s office including several protest demonstrations.
However, the fact remains that during Harish Rawat’s tenure as chief minister he could have fulfilled this demand but he also skipped this. Why questioned the BJP leaders. In a message posted on social media Facebook with the video Harish Rawat wrote : The state government should also give #respect_pension to those brothers and sisters of Delhi and NCR region who fought to create the state of Uttarakhand. Observed an hour-long silent fast at his residence in support of him. #Uttarakhand #State_Agitator_Zindabad Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Meanwhile, Dhirendra Pratap has raised the demand that the Chief Minister should distribute certificates of recognition to all the deprived separate state n cement activists of Delhi and surrounding areas on the occasion of inauguration of Uttarakhand Niwas in Delhi on 6th November.
