FORMER PUNJAB MINISTER AND PUNJAB CONGRESS CHIEF RENOWNED CRICKETER NAVJOT SINGH SIDHU JOINS Wrestlers AT JANTAR MANTAR DHARNA !

The vociferous Congress leader, former Indian cricketer and minister in Punjab government earlier Navjyot Singh Sidhu on 1 st May went to Jantar Mantar and expressed his solidarity with the protesting women wrestlers demanding immediate arrest of the Wrestling Federation of India chief and Member of Parliament Brijmohan Sharan Singh and his custodial interrogation. Addressing the protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar Congress leader Sidhu who was released from Jail on 1 st April after serving a year’s rigorous imprisonment for an accidental death of a person in Chandigarh said that there can’t be two sets of law in the country one for the highly connected and another for the commoners. Equating the protesting women wrestlers with Deity Durga Navjyot Singh Sidhu said that these brave daughters deserve to be complimented for standing up to raise their voice against injustice and their victimisation. Former Punjab minister and ex Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted : To know what is right and not to do, it is the worst cowardice !!! …. why was the FIR delayed ? ……. Not making the FIR public reflects that the FIR is mild and not corroborative to the complainant’s complaint….. intent is questionable and motive is to protect the accused…… Are things being swept under the carpet ? ……. Why is the officer who delayed the FIR not being tried under Section 166 of IPC as he was duty bound to register an FIR which is mandatory in case of a cognizable offence as per Lalita Kumari vs Govt.of UP judgement of The Hon’ble Supreme Court ? Cases registered under POCSO Act are non bailable….. why no arrest so far ? ………… is the law different for the high and mighty ? ………. Why does the man in question continue to be in the position of influence and dominance which can make and break anyone’s career ? With him at the helm of affairs a fair investigation is impossible …….. the nation understands that committee formations are merely delay and deflect….. The only way forward to a meaningful investigation and to uncover the truth is “Custodial Interrogation” , without it a fair investigation is meaningless. The fight is for the honour, integrity and dignity of every women…… a society that doesn’t respect women is going downhill …… if women of high esteem and achievement who’ve brought glory to the nation are treated so shabbily then imagine the fate of those on the streets ? …….. जिनके मत से बनती है सरकारें, खेल जगत के चमकते हुए सितारे, सड़को पे दर बदर भटक रहे बेचारे !! … Earlier the former Congress chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat and renowned activist against Big Dams and leader of Narmada Bachao Andolan also visited Jantar Mantar and expressed their solidarity to the struggling wrestlers demanding immediate arrest of the WFI chairman and MP Brijmohan Sharan Singh blaming the ruling party of fully patronising him. Kindly recall that the Wrestlers , majority of them women wrestlers have recommenced their Dharna at Jantar Mantar after three months lifting the earlier sit in on January after the government assured them of forming an oversight committee comprising of women wrestlers, senior SAI officials etc asking WFI chief to step aside till the probe is completed. The probe committee was headed by international Boxer Mary Com. But after three months when the wrestlers didn’t get any justice they were forced to restart their sit in at Jantar Mantar since April 23 , 2023.
