Former Justice of Supreme Court Ranjana Desai to be the Press CounciI of India chairperson
According to media reports the former justice of Supreme Court of India Ranjana Desai will be the next chairperson of the PRESS COUNCIL OF INDIA. The official confirmation about the appointment of the former justice of Supreme Court as the new chairperson of PCI will be given shortly. She will be taking the place of the outgoing firmer justice CK Prasad, who had already relinquished his charge after completing his tenure in the month of November. The post was lying vacant since then. According to Samachar4media bureau report an important committee comprising of the Vice president M Venkayyanaidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and PCI member Prakash Dubey had given their official consent to the decision to appoint retired supreme court justice Ranjana Desai as the chairperson of Press Council of India, the official confirmation of which shall be issued in the near future. Kindly recall that former supreme court justice Ranjana Kumari was born on 30 th October 1949 who passed her graduation from Mumbai’s, Elfinston college. In 1973 she passed her post graduation in law from Government Law College in Mumbai. She had been justice of supreme court of India. She had also chaired the delimitation commission of Jammu and Kashmir constituted after abrogation of Article 370 and J&K declared as union territory. In the past she had been the standing council for Maharashtra government and justice of Mumbai High Court.
