The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has overhauled the state’s administration by reshuffling the positions of top bureaucrats as well as the District magistrates in order to give an impression among the people of the state including the media that the state government is serious about functioning of various departments and is keeping strict eye on the performance of the heads of various departments. Uttarakhand’s economy is primarily a tourism oriented economy deriving maximum output from tourism sources, spiritual tourism and other forms of Tourism. The recent chopper crashes, complaints about mismanagement in maintaining discipline dealing with the tourists and pilgrims in view of the increasing footfalls in four historic religious destinations and failure in dealing and coping with the situation including lack of development in the tourism mechanism of the state has infact adversely impacted the tourism secretary of the state IAS Mr. Sachin Kurve who had joined this post in the month of July 2022. He has been replaced by a dashing and upright officer IAS Mr. Dheeraj Garbyal who earlier served as the DM Pauri Garhwal , Haridwar etc as well as secretary minority welfare department etc and earned name and fame by his outstanding performance. Sachin Kurve, the outgoing tourism secretary, had several complaints against him. According to the latest news the transfers of IAS and PCS after a long time has made some of the bureaucrats happy while some are unhappy. The new tourism secretary Dheeraj Garbyal has tremendous knowledge and experience about the tourism sector of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions reveal sources. The Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has received several complaints about the mismanagement and mishandling of the situation during the Chardham Yatra and tourism sector. In addition to the assignment as Tourism secretary Mr. Garbyal has also been assigned the responsibility of Uttarakhand Development Council a significant assignment. In addition to the transfers of IAS and PCS in the state the district magistrates of Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Champawat and Uttarkashi have also been changed. While IAS Prashant Arya has taken the charge as DM of Uttarkashi from Meharban Singh Bisht IAS , IAS Swati Bhadoriya has been given the charge as DM of Pauri Garhwal. The present Pauri Garhwal CM Ashish Kumar has been appointed as the chief of UKADA . The responsibility of Rudraprayag has been given to Prateek Jain as DM who was looking after the charge of SIDCUL. Mr. Manish Kumar, IAS has been appointed as the DM of Champawat whereas the charge of Jalagam has been taken away from the chief secretary Anand Vardhan. Similarly IAS Dilip Jawalkar has also been made rid of the Cooperative department of which he was the chief for a long time. Similarly the responsibility of the Labour department has been taken away from IAS Pankaj Kumar. IAS Sonika who has got rid of UKADA has been made the boss as Mela Adhikari , an important assignment.
