The controversy regarding the abusive language used by a renowned singer of Haryana Masoom Sharma from the dias of DAV College, Dehradun where he was invited as a singer to perform is gaining tremendous momentum and not prepared to lie down.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was the chief guest on this ocassion and had been on the stage welcoming the singer alongwith the Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar, the photo of which is going viral in social media.

In Kotdwar, Garhwal two written complaints have been submitted at the police station against Masoom Sharma for using abusive obnoxious language on the stage publicly where girls and boys students including teachers were present and its video also going viral degrading the image and reputation of DAV College and Uttarakhand.

Even the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Teerath Singh Rawat has come down heavily on him, demanding strict legal action against the singer.

In a statement the former Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat while strongly criticizing this incident in an educational institution of Dehradun , DAV College said that two days ago, at a student union event held at DAV PG College, Dehradun, a singer openly cursed from the stage, using foul language, and talking about firing bullets.

It is extremely unfortunate that it has hurt the culture of Devbhoomi.Whoever invited such an artist is completely wrong, and this is, in some way, a waste of money. Educational institutions should not be a platform for such vulgarity. The former chief minister said :

It would have been better to invite students from various colleges to participate in competitions, which would have fostered a sense of competition among them.

Giving local artists a platform would have strengthened the students’ sense of belonging and connection to their heritage and traditions.

Students’ association events have been held before, but this kind of vulgarity and using of abusive language has never been seen. This is deeply saddening and condemnable for all of us.

Calling such absurd artists in educational institutions is a very serious and thinkable issue. Such incidents and programmes should be outrightly condemned so that there is no recurrence of such shameful functions and incidents full of vulgarity and abusive languages said former CM Pushkar Singh Rawat.

At Kotdwar few You tubers and journalists Sudhanshu Thapliyal, Shivanand Lakhera and Upendra Kumar including office bearers of left parties submitted written complaints to the police station chief urging to take stringent action against the organisers and the renowned Haryana singer Masoom Sharma.
