Former CM Champai Soren joins BJP, resigns as minister and MLA. Hemant Soren appoints another MLA Ram Das Soren in his place as a full fledged cabinet minister

Champai Soren who was appointed as the chief minister of Jharkhand when Hemant Soren was incarcerated in a land scam matter , considered to be the most loyal minister in his cabinet , has resigned from his ministership as well as the membership of the assembly to join Bhartiya Janata Party. Champai Soren had to resign as the chief minister of Jharkhand after Hemant Soren was released on bail in the land scam case and he took over as the chief minister of Jharkhand again on June 28 th, 2024. While, the resignation of the senior Jharkhand politician Champai Soren who had been in Jharkhand politics for the last four decades and very close to Hemant Soren ‘s father Sibbu Soren, has created quite an uproar in the Jharkhand politics of the state , the incumbent CM Hemant Soren has immediately found his replacement by appointing Ramdas Soren as the cabinet minister at Raj Bhawan this morning. The inclusion of Ramdas Soren as cabinet minister in place of the former CM n minister Champai Soren is important because he was close to Champai Soren and Hemant Soren CM has played the political card well say political analysts. This immediate inclusion of Ram Dass in his cabinet was a clever decision not only to compensate the vacuum created by Champai Soren a heavy weight of Jharkhand who joined BJP but also tried to compensate the loss created into Santhal votes. Ramdass Soren too is a Santhali ,hence would now be projected as their important face by Hemant Soren reveal political analysts. According to political analysts the CM Hemant Soren wants to keep his political influence intact in the Kolhan area where Champai Soren has his fullest influence and say. He comes from Santhan community. He has reached to the post of the Jharkhand CM from an ordinary Jharkhand Mukti Morcha member during his last 44 years of socio political involvement say political analysts. This is the only reason that CM Hemant Soren has not uttered a single word against him even after his leaving Jharkhand and joining the rival BJP. Since Champai is a senior most veteran leader of Jharkhand, the CM Soren is trying to understand and sense his every future move. Since Soren unambiguously know that joining BJP by Champai may adversely affect the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Kolhan and among the Santhal community, he immediately played the Ram Das Soren Card by including him in his cabinet giving him an important ministry. By including Ram Das Soren in cabinet Hemant has not only tried to keep his influence intact in Kolhan but also in East Sinhbhum district thus countering the political influence of the veteran leader Champai Soren. All those departments that were with Champai Soren when he was cabinet minister have been given to Ramdas Soren which clearly gives the impression that the CM is interested to elevate Ramdass to the stature of Champai Soren to send across the message that another Champai Soren as the benefactor of Santhal community has arrived in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha n there is no need to worry, at all. However, what political benefit would be derived would only be ascertained only after the election results come out after the next elections. It may be recalled that Ramdas Soren comes from Santhal community. He is also the district president of JMM in East Singhbhum. He has also been a part of the movement for a separate state and has also gone to jail several times. Ramdas Soren contested the election as an independent for the first time in 2005 and lost the election to Congress candidate Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu. After that, in 2009, he contested elections from Ghatshila assembly seat on JMM ticket and won by 1,192 votes. He defeated Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu in this election. However, Ramdas had to face defeat in the 2014 elections.
