Former CIC, Uttarakhand and high court advocate writes letters to PM and Ukhand CM over sinking in Badrinath !

Reminiscent of Joshimath subsidence and cracks in thousand houses

Due to the arbitrariness happening in the name of master plan, the main market of Adi Dham Shri Badrinath adjacent to Panchbhaiya locality has started sinking rapidly. The use of heavy machinery in the Alaknanda river has created many dangers.People are in the state of immense panic.

The former Information Commissioner and Senior Advocate of the High Court has demanded the intervention of the Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami in this matter.

In a letter sent to the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami , senior Uttarakhand High Court advocate and former Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Kotiyal had expressed his displeasure over the arbitrariness being done in the name of master plan and said that despite the entire matter being placed before the government, the situation is as it is to square one.

In the letter Kotiyal has mentioned that the main market adjacent to Panchbhaiya locality has started sinking fast leading to entire population in Badrinath Dham becoming panicky. Dozens of buildings here have come under threat due to unplanned works which may further result in loss of lives and properties reminiscent of the holy town Joshimath where about 1000 houses had developed cracks and the town too has witnessed subsidence.

In view of the danger, the administration has stopped the movement by erecting walls at both the ends mentioned Mr. Kotiyal in his letter to CM Dhami.

Mr. Kotiyal has also sent an urgent letter to the prime minister acquainting him of the existing grievance of the people of Badrinath and the threat being confronted by ge residents in view of existing arbitrary ness and subsequent sinking of the main market adjacent to the Panchbhaiya locality at Badrinath Dham.
