Fmr Uttarakhand CM to participate in Ankita Bhandari Nyay Yatra. Protest held at Almora and Haldwani. Memo submitted to DMs
The Congress party has given a call for the three day Ankita Bhandari Nyay Padyatra in entire Uttarakhand.
The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat will also be participating in this Padyatra from Dehradun.
In a Facebook post also posted on social media, platform X Harish Rawat wrote :
Heard the pitiful cry of #Ankita_Bhandari’s mother which is natural, whenever a mother’s heart hurts, her pain will burst out in tears and words. First the government allowed the evidence to be destroyed and now those who are advocating for Ankita’s case along with her parents are also being harassed in various ways, which clearly shows that the people in power do not want Ankita to get justice. Justice will be achieved only when there is advocacy.
If you stop the advocate then half the case is over, her parents have now clearly taken the name of the VIP to whom Ankita was murdered due to his refusal to provide special service. State Congress has decided to undertake a padyatra across the state for 3 days. I would also like to participate in such a #padyatra in Dehradun, all of you should also get involved, social workers should also get involved. The question is not about politics, the question is about getting justice for the daughter, with hash tag # JUSTICE FOR ANKITA BHANDARI ! wrote former Ukhand CM Harish Rawat.
Meanwhile, at Haldwani and Almora hundreds of activists of Congress had demonstrated and submitted memorandum to the respective district magistrates addressed to the governor of Uttarakhand demanding that the VIP who had been named by the traumatized mother of deceased Ankita Bhandari should be brought under the investigation jurisprudence by the Special Task Force looking after the Ankita Bhandari case led by a woman DIG considered to be transparent and experienced in order to bring the actual culprit to book and deliver due justice to the bereaved family.
The memorandum also mentions about the deliberate delay in the case and demanded that the erring SDM of the area where this crime was committed and the local MLA responsible for destroying the evidence etc should also be penalised.
