The 74 year old former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat battling the chilly cold weather of Dehradun, Uttarakhand is on 24 hour Dharna, commenced at Gandhi Maidan, Rajpur Road this morning where good number of party activists, his personal followers n acquaintances also joining him. This twenty four hours Dharna was staged by Rawat is primarily to voice his dissent on the way Uttarakhand government is dealing with late Ankita Bhandari case not disclosing the name of the actual VIP, behind this brutal tragedy. In a tweet from the Dharna venue Rawat tweeted that the main objectives of his undertaking the 24 hour sit in at Gandhi Park Dehradun are : (1) To accord his support to all the valid questions raised by various movements related to the cause of Ankita Bhandari in Ankita Bhandari’s brutal murder case. (2) Expression of my personal, non political, emotional feelings including my dedication to the cause. I pray to Lords Badri Vishal and Kedarnath Jimmy to give justice to our daughter Kiran Negi at the earliest and the government should find a credible way out for justice to our daughter tweeted Harish Rawat. While sitting in Dharna this morning wrote on social media that my first part of the sit in is to express my solidarity to the fight for justice to our daughter Ankita Bhandari, the second part of the sit in is dedicated for the poor daughters n those victims of rapes demanding justice to them and the next day Dharna is dedicated to Kiran Negi, the Nirbhaya of Chawla Gang rape whose culprits have been acquitted and the review petition filed in the apex court recently.
While announcing his decision to sit on the 24 hour Dharna, Rawat had also appealed to all political parties including regional UKD to participate in this sit in protest to demand justice for our daughter Ankita Bhandari n Kiran Negi and, also to pressurise the government to disclose the name of the VIP being allegedly concealed till date.
