FCC presidential candidate injured in an attack. Elections postponed indefinitely

The elections of the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia situated at AB -19 Mathura Road, Government officers colony, Near India Gate have been postponed due to an attack on a contesting candidate by a rival group member injuring him and his subsequent admission in RML hospital.

According to the latest news while the election campaigning was in progress on Friday night one of the main candidates Munish Gupta was allegedly attacked by one of the self proclaimed journalist and advocate Pankaj Yadav and his accomplices.

Injured Gupta was admitted to hospital admitted in ICU.

The New Delhi district Deputy Commissioner of police Devesh Kumar Mahala said that the PCR received a call at 11.00 PM. When the police reached there they saw the presidential candidate Munish Gupta injured internally by one of the rival member Pankaj Yadav and his associates.

The FCC presidential candidate Gupta complained to the police that he was slapped, verbally abused and injured by Yadav and his accomplices as per the news report in The Print .

The police took him for medical examination and an FIR under sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered against Yadav on Gupta’s complaint. 

During investigation, Pankaj Yadav was confronted, interrogated and bound down in the case. Investigation is underway,” said the DCP.

Meanwhile the editor chief of the Blitz Deepak Dwivedi who was there at the time of the quarrel said that last night, during the ongoing elections for the @FCC New Delhi President of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia, senior journalist and presidential candidate Munish Gupta was brutally attacked by self-proclaimed journalist and so called advocate Pankaj Yadav and his accomplices. The assault was life-threatening in nature. Delhi Police @DelhiPolice responded swiftly and took prompt action. We expect the police
@CPDelhi to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict and just action in this matter.

Responding to this message of Deepak Dwivedi on X the Press Club of India member and former secretary general Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi wrote : Pankaj Yadav is a serial offender. He is a goon under the garb of a journalist. He did the same in press club of India the day he got membership . He thrashed a senior member and his friend. Everything was captured on CCTV. The managing committee struck off his membership.
