EX GRATIA TO THE THE MARTYRED SOLDIERS’ FAMILIES RAISED FROM 10 LAKHS TO 50 LAKHS AS ANNOUNCED By UTTARAKHAND CM
During the last 32 months of anti terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir more than fifty bravehearts of Indian Army have been killed with majority of them being youngsters. Garhwal Rifles too has lost good number of bravehearts during these anti terrorist operations hailing from Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. Just within three weeks more than 14 bravehearts have lost their precious lives in various anti terrorist operations n ambush by the Pak sponsored hardcore terrorists in Kathua and Doda jungles which included five bravehearts from Garhwal Rifles.
The martyrdom however continues.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that his government will be enhancing the ex gratia to the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers in anti terrorist operations and those martyred while on duty from Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs 50 Lakhs including jobs for the next of the kin of the family members of the martyred bravehearts in all departments of the state government.
The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was addressing the families of the ex servicemen and those martyred in various operations including the Kargil war at Dehradun Shahid Smarak after paying floral tributes to the martyred soldiers on the ocassion of Kargil war anniversary.
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, tributes were paid to the immortal soldiers at the Shaheed Smarak located in Gandhi Park, Dehradun. The family members of the brave martyrs were also honored in the program organized on this occasion. During this, the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the ex-gratia amount given to the dependents of the martyr were increased from ₹ 10 lakh to ₹ 50 lakh, the period of application for government jobs after receiving the martyrdom certificate was also increased from two years to five years and if there is no post in the District Magistrate’s office for the dependents of the martyr, then jobs would be provided in other departments as well as the contract workers working in the Sainik Welfare Department would be given leave equivalent to that of Sub-Panel workers said the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami . He reiterated that we are committed to the welfare of soldiers and their families. Our government is also working on giving reservation in government jobs to Agniveers, this decision will also be implemented soon assured the CM Uttarakhand.
The chief minister also become emotional in this occasion and bowed down touching the feet of the one of the mothers of the 1999 Kargil war’s supreme martyr.
